When Bexleyheath was getting it's pointless and dangerous new layout a few years ago a stop was installed round the back near the libary. Ever since it has remained stagnant with only a 'bus stop not in use' sock over the top.
They are working on the high street but further down towards crook log even more now and I would estimate that within a couple years the main road will need to be fixed so maybe a good idea on TFLs part to keep that stop

Rail buses should be using Horgarth Crescent.

Used it on the 185 ote author=" selondon" source="/post/279895/thread" timestamp="1426200884"] I think the bus stand in forest hill (westbourne drive) is still in use. I sometimes see 176's stand there and the odd 122 once in a blue moon I used to use that stop everyday to go to school when the 352 and 194 stood there!!
[ Sure this has come up before but Fairfield is important enough staff and is classed as a bus stn. quote author=" beaver14uk" source="/post/314894/thread" timestamp="1453927999"] You want to know about stands, quite a few variations / oddities, I will use my area of Kingston as e We regard Fairfield as a bus station because its staffed. The fact buses pick up and drop off outside does not really make much difference. xamples Legacy : maintained but rarely used, eg Birkenhead Avenue (probably from days when Norbiton bus garage existed) Layover : eg The Bittoms, sometimes used by a spare bus from FW (for 65 etc), avoids the normal stand at Brook Street getting overloaded School stand : Sometimes with a stop or boarding point as well, eg Darley Drive, off Clarance Avenue, New Malden. used for afternoon school buses starting there, term time only Pretend bus station : eg Fairfield North, Kingston, officially called Cattle Market Bus station, but no buses with passengers enter of leave it, so its just a series of stands (the stops are on the road outside), no idea why it is called bus station when passengers cannot get on a bus there. Hidden (or hard to find) stand : eg Dukes Avenue, Ham. Terminus of K5 (and some short 65 workings) Since the road was resurfaced 2 or 3 years ago, now just a pole and flag, no road markings so bus just stops as near as practical, depending on if anything else parked there. No idea why an in use route terminus doesn't warrant bus stand road markings. Converted stop : eg Hampton Court Green, used by seasonal 267 extension, road markings unchanged so still says bus stop, not bus stand, buses now stop in bus lane instead of the concrete layby. Turning Circle : eg Queens Road, Richmond (junction of Sheen Road), semicircular, and stands are therefore curved to follow the kerb, not straight. Sometimes used by short workings of 337 (cue jokes about bendy buses to fit the bendy stand) Forecourt : don't think there is one in Kingston, but sometimes at bus garages or rail stations Dead : eg Dee Road, Richmond, used to be 371 terminus, but that was diverted to a new one in Sainsburys car park, Manor circus. Oddly the words on the road are painted sideways in Dee Road, unlike most where they are in direction of travel. This one has two red notice plates below the flag, Authorised buses only and one to remind drivers to switch engines off on stand. Presumably non authorised buses, eg trainers cannot stand at this one. Part stand, Part stop : Another oddity, Clarence Street, there is only a bus stop flag, but half of the yellow box is marked bus stand and half bus stop. Early running X26 wait here (with passengers, so don't stand, just wait) the stand bit has a brick wall most of its length so cant board or alight except on one door buses, eg the 12m Citaros on X26. If the X26 incorrectly waits at forward end of stop, other buses eg 65 can't use the ramp at the stop. There is another little used stand in Wood Street about 100m forward of this one. Probably other oddities in other areas You can check them all out on Google streetview
Gloucester Drive in Manor House. Close to home but I know very little about it. I suppose it would facilitate southbound curtailments to Manor House down Green Lanes, or serve as an emergency substitute if the 279 can't throw it's usual U-ie at Manor House Station*. It is also down as a 'stop' rather than a stand, in spite of Gloucester Drive not being on any route. Can anyone shed some light? Streetview* I may have answered my own question here, as large-scale remodelling work is due to Seven Sisters Road at Manor House in conjunction with the Woodberry Down estate regeneration works - the stand there will be affected for a time, if not permanently. I can't see more than one bus fitting into the space here though!

Just thought I'd point that out.

I can just imagine if one of the drivers lives in the estate and goes for Lunch instead of paying or one of the locals saying do you want a tea or coffee.

Not really disused but there was a bus stand on Westbury Road in Forest Gate, extending 20 metres in the direction of Glenperke Road. The problem with this stand was it fell victim to a one-way system on Westbury Road, in the opposite direction to the stand! If you look on Google Streetview you can still see the remnants of the bus stand marked out with white paint; the bus flag has long since gone.

It is a curtailment for the 141 and 341. It is used a bit on the 141, even more now with the stupid LTN's in Harringey causing traffic in Green Lanes. Another curtailment stand hardly ever used is on the 34. The New Southgate curtailment at Beconsfield Rd, this is due to parked cars opposite the stand near the turning point. The turn has not been used in years because of this.

I cannot remember, but I know some 34's used to start and finish there when Nortel (standard telephone works) used to be opposite. I am sure some of the schoolday double deck 34's when it was single deck used to start from there in the afternoon. The layby to hold the buses is big, the problem is the road when leaving the stand if too much people park there cars there, the bus cannot safely turn out from there.

Twickenham Albany , Brook Green , Forest Hill & New Southgate as above are pretty big stands. Plenty of opportunities for fantasy bus routes here.

I've seen the 219 parking up at Upper Tooting Park a few times in the summer. Does anyone know if the 249, 155, 355 or the 319 has stopped short there as well in recent times?
