21, 36, 53, 177, 436 and 453 were diverted through Deptford one time in 2013 due to a fire incident in New Cross. I was shocked to see route 36 of all routes running along Evelyn Street! Can't remember 171 or 172 passing here or 321. I remember that! Seeing the 436 in Evelyn street was weird. The 171 also went along there. A couple weeks ago the 75 and 185 were going down Adelaide avenue Also I know it became "normal" but the 108 over tower bridge always catches my eye.

I do remember the 275 being diverted through Palmerston Road, as well as Queens Road on another occasion about 10 years back. Probably both due to issues at Hoe Street or Selborne Road but cant remember exactly. Nowadays if there are issues on Selborne ROad/Hoe Street it would be diverted the long way round to St James Street via Blackhorse Road Station.

Could happen these days but double decks over that bridge when it was restricted were a no no surely? The main diversion with the 275 (and other Hoe St routes starting at the Central) was when they were digging up the road to put the subway link in. In effect no left turn out of the bus station so the 34, 215, 275 were diverted via St James St, Blackhorse Rd and Forest Rd. I used the buses at BHR as they were more frequent than the 123 but on the first day the buses were refusing to let people on (some things don't change). I eventually got on a 275 but the driver then held me hostage on the bus as he refused to stop until the Town Hall. I explained the official policy of planned diversions but he wasn't having it. I had to ring LT Customer Services and they got a radio message put out to all drivers on the 275 and had the kidnapper driver reprimanded later. He always scowled at me whenever I saw that driver again (thankfully not very often!).

612 during the flooding in Purley ever 2012/13 served Purley Station twice then went round the roundabout and straight to South Croydon and then from there duplicated the 412 but went to Riddlesdown and back to Selsdon.

When the hop exchange stop was unable to be served back in november due to an accident route RV1 had to be diverted all the way round through to elephant then through some back roads back to london bridge whereas the 381 had to reverese and turn around back in the other direction,

When the Hampton Court Road is closed, the 111 and 216 go via 481 to Teddington, then via R68 to Hampton Court, and at one time the bus did a double-run via the other Hampton Court Road (the one between Hampton and Hampton Court) to serve the stopps missed out, thus turning a 15 minute journey into a 70 minute one, though that can sometimes happen on the 'normal' route.

When the 498 was single deck, if Brook Street was bad they would cut thought Nags Head Lane, Shepherds Hill then Gubbins lane and LOR, use to make for a great ride if you had a good driver, was much fun being thrown about an E200 down country lanes, The buses used to scrape the road in some places if you were going fast enough

It could have been a temporary diversion due to an accident or something or other. The subway link was a few years later and did use that Blackhorse diversion. I also remember the drivers not stopping but as I was already on the bus did not mind at all.

One from last year was when the Picketts Lock Lane/Bounces Road junction was being resurfaced. Route W8 diverted from Edmonton Green via Hertford Road, Nag's Head Road and then Meridian Way to the Leisure Centre.
Another one involved a parade through Chingford, which meant southbound route 397s being diverted from Endlebury Road via The Ridgeway, Mansfield Hill, Waltham Way, Hall Lane, the A406, Trinity Park and Walthamstow Avenue to the Sainsbury's stand.
Cycling event one Sunday, Ponders End "Flags" roundabout was closed, 313s diverted from Ponders End bus depot via Edmonton Green, the A406 and Waltham Way to Sewardstone Road.
Although the Tour de France diversions will take some beating. 20 from Walthamstow via Hoe Street, Crooked Billet, A406, Charlie Brown's, Chigwell Road, Woodford Station, Roding Valley and Buckhurst Hill! Westbound 275s diverted from Woodford Station via Chigwell Road, Charlie Brown's, A406, Crooked Billet, Wadham Road to Hale End Road.
