On the heritage scene, I'm probably speaking for myself here but I would like to see more vehicles preserved from the 70's-90's period, yes RT's/RM's are iconic and throughly deserve their place as heritage vehicles, but I probably travel in them (well RM's) more now than when they were in front line service, thus meaning I tend to find rally's getting more and more boring. It'd be good to have a bit more variety! (Gonna get shot down in flames now!) I don't find RMs/RTs boring, but I get your comments about more variety, which is why I went for the Bristol LHS BS class as my choice for preservation. I can just see myself with BS5, instead of it being a cafe in that garden centre where it resides at the moment. A BS is practical too, being small, it would fit in many places a larger vehicle wouldn't

Never saw these in London service, but when my Gran & Grandad were alive, they lived up in Southport and I'm pretty sure Merseybus operated some of these out of Southport garage on the route between Monument and Marshside (the 4 I think) I was intrigued by these ugly little brutes, always wanted one to pop up on the 7 (gran's local route) but all I got was Nationals and Atlanteans.

From memory, Safeguard had a Bristol that I filmed at a Cobham Running Day. It had its original engine so sounded like a Routemaster, had worse suspension than a Scania and it leaked too lol. Still, I enjoyed the ride.

If I was a multi-millionaire, I'd preserve an LLW (ex-London United, preferably), but all of them are scrapped afaik. Darn. Just because it's the first low-floor bus I've ever used and used in London. Used them on their second LU route, the H91 mainly.
Failing that, an ex-Airlinks dart (Route H30, anyone remember that?), LU VP111, any London United Euro 2 B7TL/ALX400, any of London United's T-KAG darts, an ex-First Citaro articulated (ex-Route 207), LU TA201-3 (X-UMS), an Stagecoach Y-NHK Trident.
Out of the current era, a London United ADE (preferably from AV), TLA (preferably TLA2, if not a TA), ADH (27 batch) or surprisingly, an SP (not 08/58reg).
All except the Stagecoach Trident has local connections to me. I have gone to school on most of them or used all them after school at least once.

I've way more than one lol: T684 (the only Voith Titan which is already preserved) and a standard gearboxed former London Central Titan A former Cowie/Arriva L class Olympian A former London General Metrobus and a former Cowie/Arriva Metrobus 5 former Connex TA's (1 V reg, 1 normal revs Y reg, 1 overevving Y reg, 9766 in normal revs & a 51/02 or 52 reg overevving) A former London Central NV class Volvo Olympian A Voith Scania Cityzen A former London General VC class Volvo Citybus Ex Stagecoach SPD 34236 A Euro II DWL A 54 reg DW A couple from the above list I've forgotten: Two former Connex W & Y reg DA's (one each) A former Connex 51 reg DP The majority of these were local or localish to me except for the Voith Titan and the Cityzen which would be a ex Brighton & Hove example.

I would rob the bank, so I could get two buses preserved Or else...
My first bus would be a London General Volvo B7TL 10.6m / Plaxton President (PVN) from NP, not PVN4 or PVN5. (Former First London buses, the fleet numbers of the ones I would choose from were: Ex-First Fleetnumbers PVN1 LK03 NHF VTL1306, VNL32306
PVN2 LK03 NHG VTL1307, VNL32307 PVN3 LK03 NHP VTL1313, VNL32313 PVN6 LK03 NHX VTL1316, VNL32316 This is because I travel on them every day, and there aren't that many around. (Also, the examples I have chosen retain First's Willow Leaf Livery , all that's left is to re-instate the blindbox fs.)
My second bus would be a Dennis Dart SLF 10.2m / Marshall Capital (DMN), rescuing it from the devil (BE) . One of the following: Ex-First Fleetnumbers
DMN2 LN51 DWL DML427, DML41427 DMN3 LN51 DWM DML428 DML41428 DMN4 LN51 DWO DML429, DML41429 DMN5 LN51 DWP DML430, DML41430 DMN6 LN51 DWU DML431, DML41431 Examples of this type graced the 299, the W6 and the W9 when I grew up, in my immediate vicinity. These buses are quite unique compared to the ubiquitous Plaxton Pointers, which I have always found to feel quite flimsy. It had to be a two-door version hence the selection above, as I think you can't have a London bus without both doors . Unfortunately, AFAIK, there aren't any Willow Leaf Vinyls left, so it's time to get painting! (+blindbox fs).
Et voila! My choice is set

A Bexleybus Northern Counties bodied Olympian in the full blue and cream. An Optare Starrider as used around Catford. A Duple/Carlyle bodied early Dennis Dart as introduced at Bromley, a step up in quality for a small bus.

Funny you mentioned that about the Voith boxed Titan as when i jumped on it on the off-chance it was then on the 35. This was sometime back in the mid to late 90s.

Would have to be a Citaro bendy bus from the original Stagecoach 453 batch for two reasons. 1) no one else has and it was a important chapter in the London bus scene. 2) It was the last type of bus driven by late father before he passed away. (examples of the other types he drove are already preserved) Very sorry about your loss buddy.

Yep, that was the BS. A shame perhaps that BS5 just misses out on being LEZ exempt (it was new in 1975).

For me,
1x London 55/06 reg ZF Volvo B7TL 1x ex London ZF Volvo Olympian 1x V-KGW Dennis Trident
I'd go for the B7TL at this moment in time as it would be most likely to earn its keep.
