That was incredibly short sighted of them. You’d think an extension one day through Belvedere, Erith, Slade Green and Dartford would be a natural progression. It’s not unfortunately. Next time you are in Abbey Wood, have a look at platform 4 and you will see what I mean about difficulty. I would personally look at Staines for the next Elizabeth line extension. I definitely will.

Get this for dreadful planning.
With no Elizabeth Line this bank holiday weekend. So on the 3 tri-lines that converge on Dartford, there is just one train an hour to Charing Cross.

But six trains an hour to London Bridge via Woolwich Arsenal and five via Bexleyheath, the Sidcup line is closed for engineering work.

That’s not great when you have to get a train on towards Charing Cross, you get to Charing Cross and you are the only train in the station. No one really want to go to Cannon Street/London Bridge. So what point are you trying to make?
Sooner that London Overground takes over Southeastern the better, this is more than likely with a Labour Mayor/Government which by the end of the year again is more than likely for both.

As I said there was no Charing Cross service via Sidcup because of engineering work and I wouldn't expect anything better from London Overground if they ever do take it over, they'll still have the same complex network to deal with.

I did a journey from exactly those lines to the SW mainline yesterday, and the change at London Bridge was easy enough and I got to where I needed to easily on time. This seems to be moaning for moaning’s sake, I’m afraid.

But normally they run the Sidcup Line trains down the Bexleyheath line whe; engineering works are on. I boarded a very crowded train to Charing Cross.
I would expect better coordination under TFL.

As much as I hate the SE timetable in its current state I can’t see TfL making it better, in fact they’ll streamline it even more, Greenwich & Bexleyheath lines to CST only, Sidcup and Grove Park lines CX and Hayes probably sent all to Victoria. The outlier is the Woolwich/Blackheath line this service has only ever been 2tph, maybe they’ll send the Thameslink via that route.
