I really hope the 24 gets electrics for its next contract, that would be a great upgrade. Agreed, I think it will get electrics. What will be Abellio first electric double decker route I wonder 🤔 Wouldn't the 24 keep its LTs for its next contract, regardless of the operator? Though the 381 could be a good candidate for electrics when next up for tender, especially as WL will already have charging infrastructure, and the 61reg E40Hs might be getting too old for a new contract at the time.

Maybe but there's also a chance that the LTs will move elsewhere. Not a bad shout with the 381 can see this route moving across the road as well. Looking at other routes that Abellio could possibly retain with electrics. Not seeing these routes will convert by the way/ 49 156 344 E1 E9

The LTs will be 11-13 years old by the time the next contract starts, so they should be too old for another full contract. I suppose if TfL don't want to withdraw them before the 14-year mark they could start off the contract with existing LTs then replace them with newer LTs mid-contract (obviously this would depend on another LT route getting new buses).

That'll be way too costly just to extend the life of buses that'll be rather old, in London terms, at that point. Besides, I think the rear door and staircase still serve some purpose. It'll definitely help with human congestion, instead of having too much of a bottleneck at the bottom or top of one staircase.

You've got some good candidates for electrics there, my gut feeling is that the 344 will become the Abellio first electric DD route.

Pretty sure rhe E9 is the only route that would require new buses though.

When they appear on the 207/427 they're unbearably slow, that batch are dire. I guess the E9 may get a batch of new Smarts - can't see it getting electrics, or perhaps another option would be electrics for the 344 to release the 16-reg MMCs for the E9.
