AL's WVL's have had some erratic blind displays on the 157, particularly showing 'Special Service' in the destination box but today WVL481 had not only a blank destination blind but also 'To And From Chelsea Flower Show' on the side blind! Here it is at West Croydon Bus Station: www.flickr.com/photos/16299801@N03/53529152476/It always amazes me that people just get on the bus- say for instance they intended to travel to Crystal Palace only to find the bus turned short at Norwood Junction!

If anything they’re probably used to it now

TH's T133 heading to 'Arriva' on the 64: www.flickr.com/photos/16299801@N03/53539319258/in/photostream/How come TH is having so many blind problems at the moment? I can understand buses that have transferred from N to TH having paper in the windscreens while they organise the blinds for the 289 but T133 has been at TH for years. Odd.

I don't know why but this bus has had destinations removed from the blindset for some reason, same as T141. Has Thornton Heath Pond but not New Addington. Your guesses are as good as mine as no one communicates

With the ESs expected to be on the 64 by now, they are unlikely to have ordered blinds if they have stock with no 64 destinations on them.

Works have stopped again, a huge hole at the front of the garage. Diggers have been taken away so at a stalemate again. No sight of any type training will begin any time soon.

TH blind problems are nothing new, Arriva’s issues seem to be with manual blinded buses such as with TH, GY and DX. At N the 61reg always had flawless smart looking blinds while the 59/60reg were constantly muddled and dark on the 157 and 417.

At N the 61reg always had flawless smart looking blinds while the 59/60reg were constantly muddled and dark on the 157 and 417. Whenever I did the 417 I mostly got EX DT Buses whenever I tookover on the First half of a late. On the second half I would take out a HV on two occasions a HT. The manual blinded buses were a nightmare sometimes because the lighting was bad or not working. The blind presentation on the ESs make the rest Arriva London South fleet look out of date. As soon as one of those ESs hits the road on the 64 people will be like what the heck is this I can actually read the front properly! I look forward to seeing them on the 250 as the other day when doing the 249 it actually was a rather odd sight seeing such a old vehicle moving along Streatham High Road alongside newer ones! Overall it’s a shame that in the past for existing vehicles with Manual blinds that smart blinds were made mandatory when refurbishing the vehicles. The 172s Tridents with Abellio looked very out of place with smart blinds however… Some of the Es from the 57 I’ve seen on the 157 the blind presentation is terrible.

I am sure this will not meet with your approval, but seeing as it sounds like this will not be resolved quickly, and BN seem to have excess charging capacity, I would like to see the 50 converted early in lieu of the 64, and TH get converted in one go when the big order of electrics arrive in the summer. Be nice to see some new Arriva buses in Croydon, the newest are the 405 and they do well to hide themselves away in a corner of town. Let's be honest BN is the only one of the 3 garages utilising their allocation of ESs. TH's are yet to turn a wheel in service and E only use and need about 9 for all the use they have.

I suggested this when the 133 & 333 was lost as there are now so many ES's at BN effectively with no home currently so makes perfect sense to convert the 50 now and then transfer the route and buses over to TH further down the line

190 on route 463 with its rear blind stuck on 434. Did notice the rear blind was hanging higher than it usually should do when I saw it on the 434 yesterday.

An Oxford Circus bound LT on the N3 last night was showing 3 on the front. The night before an Aldwych bound EH on the N44 was showing N87 on the front

Two 16xxx buses running light off the 678 displaying Special Service and D8.
The 678 is a bit of a joke at the moment for blinds and I am 99.9 % sure this is what they would have displayed whilst in service.
