No but I have spoken to managers from McKenna who can supply both. Facts speak for themselves. I can’t help but feel they would say smart blinds are the cheaper option because it creates a steady, albeit small, revenue stream for them. Switching the entire London market to LEDs hurts their bottom line as in the long term the tech is cheaper, far more environmentally friendly and better for more visually challenged passengers who may have trouble seeing at night or low light. Are you honestly saying that the smart blinds with LED internal illumination currently in use in London are worse than the LEDs with poorly spaced letters and numbers for the visually impaired? The layouts for all the current smart blinds have been carefully put together to make them easier to read. The LEDs are individual dots which can blur the letters and numbers if they are not carefully adjusted as on the West Ham prototype installations. I don't get where environmental friendliness comes into it. The long term is actually longer than the life of the bus in London.

They may not be perfect but they are pretty d*mn good when I see them everyday. As for environmental friendliness producing and replacing blinds uses far more resources long term than a LED installation would. How often do blinds rip and need to be replaced or need an update because TfL change the wording on something or a route gets extended to a new destination not installed? Then of course they have to be ripped out for bus sales outside of London using more resources as an LED set gets installed anyway. LED blinds can be updated with a USB stick, very simple and far less invasive to the environment. It’s a great bit of kit and a shame TfL failed to embrace it for so long.

I can understand buses that have transferred from N to TH having paper in the windscreens while they organise the blinds for the 289 but T133 has been at TH for years. Odd. I had a similar problem on 29.8.21 when my ride on T134 was heading to Arriva: a DB company. At least that can not happen again for the next few years.

Earlier today while waiting for the 286 at Cutty Sark, I saw a 199 in that had all its blinds saying "N199" on it. A man at the stop said to me "The N199 normally runs a bit later than that", and I replied "Maybe the driver is using Australian standard time".

The only issue with the blind is the same one that has been pointed out on the Caetano Nimbus since they began updating their blinds last week - increase the space between the destination and ultimate blind and it would excellent. The rest of it is clear

The rest of it is clear Which is precisely my point. To achieve your suggestion there no needs to be more black space.
