Constant jerky movement on an Enviro 200

I saw it at 05:25 Out of Service heading for its terminal for its 05:50 departure.  I thought the constant jerking was due to a cold engine, but then when the bus came back twenty minutes later in normal service, it was still jerking and it jerked constantly throughout the 35-minutes journey as though the driver was continually briefly taking his foot off the gas.  My worst bus journey ever, and I've done thousands.

Gearbox changing up and down probably.
As long as it moves, it will be sent out............

The jerking has been a trait of the Allison gearbox for years even on the Dennis darts.

The voith ones tend to jerk sometimes, as your braking to a stop and then switch your foot to the accelerator nothing happens it jerks back then engages the gear!

Any more details on the bus? Which route was it on?
