I know. The high-backed variant suited the DLAs very well. I wish they'd stuck with them. The Lazzerini seats were very plush and comfortable on the DLAs too, from what I recall. On second thought about the LT seat handles. They may have powder coated them, but the powder coat is coming off very easily due to whatever circumstances. The refurbished Abellio Geminis with the yellow handrails are having that problem somewhat. perhaps the cleaning materials they use to clean the handrails? You know I'm not so sure. I suspect it's an example of not specifying sufficiently robust materials for the likely demand. A similar issue is now affecting London Overground stations where they use orange handrails, step edges etc. I've seen several stations that are now looking very sloppy because the orange finish is simply wearing away through use - people's hands and feet touching the handrails and steps etc. There clearly needs to be a somewhat more frequent maintenance regime to keep them looking fresh. I suspect the same is needed on the NB4Ls whereas other many other types seem to have more robust finishes on stanchions and rails. When we last had bench seats the metal frames were simply chromed which is pretty hard to damage but no we have to go all fancy on the NB4Ls and look at how messy the badly worn ones look.

How did I not see your post? SouthEastern are having the same problem with some of their stations. Their purple and lilac paint is all coming off. The Connex blue and NSE red paint underneath seems fine still, which is kinda funny. Maybe some horribly dangerous and carcinogenic chemical in the paint has been removed which actually made it last?!

The SE colour scheme is lovely though.

I agree, it looks very nice, so do the Southern stations. I'm trying to remember which stations I noticed that were particularly bad. I haven't needed to travel on the SouthEastern network recently. I think generally the metal fences and lamp posts are suffering the worst.
