The Secretary of State for Transport has announced various changes at Network Rail. The main one affecting London is that Sir Peter Hendy becomes the new Chairman of Network Rail. Mike Brown, LU MD, takes over as Interim TfL Commissioner.
The electrification of the Midland Main Line and Transpennine Line have been "paused" pending a review by Sir Peter Hendy which reports back to the SoS in the Autumn.
There are other changes like no bonuses for NR directors, abolition of the public members on NR Board, Richard Brown is appointed as special NR Director and there will also a special review of NR investment strategy.

Interesting move.
The fact is , most of the London rail infrastructure is Victorian. To do a proper job, you're talking changing bridges, widening the lines, knocking down housing, tunnelling. It's a total shambles really. I mean take South West Trains ....it has a line that stops at Shepperton. Because that was decided years and years ago and nothing has changed. Shepperton is a nonsense place to terminate.

Take the Victoria to Orpington service - most of the bridges are quite modern with the majority of the ones in and around Brixton dating from the 80's. I do hope more lines are taken over by TfL especially the Victoria to Orpington service - Brixton High Level Station can do with a rebuild which would be heavily expensive but I'd settle for a good deep refurb instead for now.

Interesting move. Shepperton is a nonsense place to terminate. I guess there's the studios in Shepperton He could convert the 3rd Rail to Overhead - at least the lines at Waterloo so it joins up with the Electric Spine and the lines to Reading
