This message is brought to you courtesy of LT226 - guess what mode it's in? (Admittedly, with the hot weather missing for the last week I've had more hybrid mode buses to crew)

You have to be a part of the Facebook group to see the post. May not work with some.

Slow, dangerous brakes, upper deck overheats in summer, no opening windows, costly to repair and not actually hybrid due to duff batteries... oh well, at least they look nice

Do not forget also that they cost more than other hybrids

I appreciate that you put a smilie on the end BUT I think a note of caution is needed with such comments as, as far as I am aware, nothing has been proved yet or made official?

Apparently 40 drivers from HT have compiled a dossier with all the alleged defects and battery malfunctions.

Because it's essentially a Streetlite engine (more than likely now the Daimler Euro6) having to move all that bus, it would chuck out clag like no tomorrow. The engine doesn't directly drive the wheels like the E400H or the B5TL, but is a generator for traction motors like in conventional diesel trains (see Intercity125 ) If there are no functioning batteries (which would only power the bus up to 10 mph before the engine takes over anyway), it's understandable why there's this spike in emissions. TfL have managed to make a Euro6 bus dirtier than an older Euro3 1st gen E400. They should pat themselves on the back Of course they will deny any issue with them as is mentioned on the LBC site. I know Nick Ferrari will have them over a barrel on this one, cue BoJo and his classic stammer and unusual metaphors when he's questioned Like the air on the A501 in Marylebone, LBC's swtichboard is clogged so I doubt I'd be able to call in Leon Daniels will stay out of the way and just say the matter 'will be looked into' until the matter goes away They should make a few conventional diesel versions on Voith (FRM 2-50 to begin with ) for comparison with emissions. At least they are looking into pure electric like the Irizars and they could install conduction charging plates on key routes and make the move to electric buses. It will be interesting to see how the BYD decker fares when it arrives. Though it's not a looker, it could encourage ADL to make a viable version that could be used in Central London.

ServerKing - you touch on an interesting point about 'alternative combinations' and manufacturers. Am I not right in thinking Wright only have the production rights to the first 600 & TfL own the blueprints, so to speak. Therefore could ADL (or another manufacturer) not indeed produce the same bus, but employ a few different parts to bump up reliability? Heck, they could put one of your Vauxhall Vectra engines in for you!
