I'm not surprised seeing how some of their drivers are... I see them always caning the bus and weaving in and out of traffic when they are running not in service... This on top of the Westway fire and the 'agency driver' of theirs who attacked another woman a few weeks ago...

It has been bad few weeks for Golden Tours. Firstly, the lunatic driver who attacked a woman in the street than now this happens. I'm glad to hear no one was seriously hurt.

I think the council has to take some blame here and actually trim back some trees rather without the need to removing. Unless they are protected species, there is no excuse.

I'm guessing but they may be London Plane trees and they're usually protected in Central London. If trees are considered to overhang a bus route used by double deckers then TfL will have risk assessed the route and put up warning signs. I am surprised that there would be an issue in Woburn Place given the vast numbers of double deckers using that road without incident.

Ive seen a lot of this on my Facebook feed and have only one thought on it..... No substitute for the Mk 1 Eyeball. Frankly as a "professional" (and I use that term loosely!) driver he/she should be aware of anything likely to cause an issue with the safe passage of the vehicle. Low bridge, low tree whatever, the driver needs to take some responsibility here too. Probably the angle on the bbc London tweet but those trees *clearly* over hang the road

It's a different to a low bridge which can't really be altered.

How many other buses traverse the street and haven't driven into the tree ?

Whilst I agree that the council should shoulder some responsibility for their failing in the upkeep of the trees, we can't place 100% of the blame at any one door.
