I understand it was disrespectful, and morally wrong. But legally he'd done nothing wrong, so sacking the driver could lead to a huge tribunal and I'm sure the company involved won't won't that.

Should be sacked!! I was going to suggest all day in the stocks, but that would contrive his human rights So doctors and nurses conducting urgent operations or train drivers driving trains or anyone doing their job who doesn't pause for remembrance should be sacked should they? We now run the country on the basis of "social media lynch mob" justice do we? I know I'm going to be in a minority but we need a sense of proportion here. Yes remembrance is important but it doesn't override everything else. There is no reason at all for the driver to be sacked. He should simply be spoken to and the company should make clear that if drivers do pause for two minutes they're not going to be disciplined for running late. I'd like to know if Uno had made clear to its drivers that it expected them to stop their vehicles for two minutes as a mark of respect. If they didn't then they're as much to blame as the driver. I note no comment has been made about that. This is a classic "over the top" one sided load on nonsense where the driver has no opportunity to put his side. Therefore a fair and balanced judgement is impossible. If you want people sacked then perhaps we should start with those who have been to commercialise the whole Poppy Day / Remembrance activity including the appalling spectacle of people sending in photos of poppies on TfL vehicles / premises and being placed in a daily "lucky dip" to win a prize from a sponsor? You too can win a posh handbag from TfL as a sign of "remembrance". The whole thing is ridiculous. diamondgeezer.blogspot.co.uk/Remembrance is supposed to something that people do as individuals to remember not an opportunity to "look good".

It's got nothing to do with anything else. My comments were mine alone and not anyone elses Could he not spare just 2 minutes out of the year?

My initial reaction was that the driver should be sacked although there are suggestions that he had simply taken a wrong turning and had sounded the horn accidentally. I think Uno have handled the matter very well issuing a public apology for any offence that was caused and making a sizeable donation to the poppy appeal.
