A question for those who might remember the stop arrangements when the old West Croydon Bus Stn was working. Was there a common stop at West Croydon for the 194 and 198 heading towards Shirley? Looking at the new stop arrangements I note the 194 and 198 are on separate stops with the latter not coming into the bus station. The 194 also doesn't have a stop in Poplar Walk.
Now I may well be talking garbage and there's never been a common stop but it seems a bit odd to force people to choose one route or the other or else schlep to Wellesley Road.

The 194's first stop at the old bus station was between what will be stop B2 and Station Road which was formerly stop B1 and never served Poplar Walk whilst the 198 only ever served the bus station towards Thornton Heath with Shirley bound buses stopping on Poplar Walk All routes that serve London Road only served the bus station towards Thornton Heath Pond whilst heading towards Elmers End, East Croydon, Fairfield Halls & Park Street, they served Poplar Walk

One small observation. At stop B3 they managed to have a separate location for the panel timetables so people can read them without interferring with people sitting. Contrast with stop B4 where they are positioned on a wall directly behind a seat. It is really poor design given how difficult it can be to stand in someone's personal space and then peer over their heads to try to read a timetable. I'd have hoped for something neater on new build. It's unavoidable at many freestanding bus shelters but still not very neat design. Is it my imagination but have they planted trees under the canopy and then put a hole in the canopy roof for them to grow through? How very odd. I agree it looks a little better in those shots but the lack of weather protection compared to the old design is very poor. It does get cold, icy, snowy and windy in Croydon and that's not a good design for those conditions. The wooden seats look nice but I wonder how they will hold up to the inevitable abuse. Although a different design, one of the wooden seats at Lea Bridge stn is already damaged no doubt after repeated efforts to break one of the slats.

Yes I noticed that with regards to the timetables - I'd of thought they'd gone for a similar design at all bus stops but guess that went out of the window Your not imagining things though I can definitely see why you might think you are as that was my first thoughts when I saw it - they've either put a hole through the canopy or have left a little gap to have some trees planted. Hope they aren't conker trees I do find Croydon much windier than down here in Brixton so I was quite worried when it was going to be open to the elements and well, my worries haven't really gone away. I wonder that if those wooden seats do get heavily vandalised on a regular basis, will they swap them out for metal/steel versions?

We are working towards a date of 1st October now, we have some route test tomorrow. Why has it got a plain red roundel rather than a BUSES lettered one? It's got the "BUSES" lettering now.

That's probably because after I asked the question on here I contacted TfL and asked them them the same question and they replied that it was chosen by one of the bus station designers and that it was in line with TfL corporate standards. To cut a long story short, I told them it wasn't and to check again and then all of a sudden it's had "BUSES" correctly added to it.

No wonder TfL take so long to reply having to deal with requests like that.

Reposted due to YouTube closing the channel the report was hosted on. Having visited the site I think the bus station looks very nice and has been designed well aesthetically. From a passenger point of view there is room for improvement. It lacks a few of features that many bus stations now posses: Toilets, Live Travel information screens and priority seats also to a lesser extent a Kassel Kerbline for better alignment with the low floor buses.

A toilet will be available when the retail unit opens, a live information screen will be installed in the information office for customers to see, the kerb line was tested and there are no issues. Not aware we have any priority seating that is just common decency.
