Nottingham City Transport are the operator who is after gas powered double decks - they're also a big Scania operator and I think it's their interest that has pushed this development along.

Where would the gas tanks go?
Only ever seen gas on high floor single deckers with tanks under the floor and on low floor single decks with tanks on the roof. A lot more tanks are needed compared to diesel buses.

A lot more tanks are needed compared to diesel buses. Looking at the photos of the chassis it looks to me as if there may be some under the front stairs and others towards the rear. Clearly getting the weight distribution correct and being able to link the tanks together to power the engine is a key challenge. It's going to be interesting to see how ADL tackle that but they have a lot of experience with the Scania gas buses supplied to Reading and Sunderland (albeit they're single decks).
