Keston Mark probably isn't the best place to change buses but it's hard to make a case for the R2. What was this proposal Orpington to Croydon route? During the results it says 'Look to link Orpington with Croydon' and it's something people have expected for a long time. Although thanks to the Hopper this doesn't seem that likely anymore I must have missed that bit, of course the 353 used to do that and clearly people aren't happy at being turfed off at Addington Village and onto the tram, and they'll be standing all the way in the morning peak!

Having looked at the new duty schedule it would appear that the R7 will indeed run with 4 buses (TB21-24).
The current 7 line rota incorporating the 664, R5, R7 and R10 will be split into two new rotas, each with 9 lines. One will do all of these routes, the other will be solely R7s.
Still no word yet on where the R7 will stand in Chislehurst. There is also the issue of there being no toilet facilities at either end of the route.

I'm gobsmacked that TfL haven't abandoned the R7 extension to Chislehurst as a money saving exercise. Nice to see it appears to have survived.

I suppose that's not too bad as the last one will probably be leaving Chislehurst about 11 ish. I assume the stand will go where the disabled bays are at the moment. Will be interesting to see what they do about Chelsfield as our union agreement entitles us to 5 minutes minimum at each end. Personally I think running it through to Chislehurst will cause it no end of reliability issues with the traffic on Summer Hill. Will be interesting to see how it pans out. I've stuck my name down for R7 rota. Didn't even cross my mind before as I'm not keen on the R5/R10 and didn't fancy the 664 much either.

Chelsfeild Village is a hesitation point, so at the moment R3s are given 2 mins there and I'm suspecting your be the same, as the R5/10 only get 1 mins at Green Street Green and union accepted that.

At the moment there are public facilities in Orpington (although they were closed yesterday morning) from 8am to 5 or 6pm. There's also McDonalds 5 minutes walk away. So long as there's a toilet available for most of the day at least at one end I think the union will accept that

I'm convinced getting the R7 to Chislehurst Station was one of the main catalysts for the Orpington R route changes. I would have been very surprised had it been abandoned Now, when's the route learning?

Yes but the R5/R10 is only just over an hour round trip. The R7 is going to be the best part of 2 hours.

Went on them at MB and lasted 3 months before begging to go on the 320 lol. Although I'd imagine they're better now as the running times have been extended.

Although I'd imagine they're better now as the running times have been extended. My guess is anyone who did them when they were with Metrobus would be amazed if they were to do them now. Some of the Metrobus drivers at Orpington Station have told me about some of the near misses (and in some cases the full on hits!) they had when doing the route and the overwhelming factor in those incidents was lack of time. When I do them now I don't feel under any pressure to get around quickly because I know that time pressure isn't there. It's not quite a relaxing drive around the countryside but it's still far more pleasant than a 208!

I think the R7 will be quite a nice route from Chislehurst to Chelsfield, and definitely better than a 208. Doubt I'll get it though as I haven't been there a hundred years lol
