I certainly agree about London driving standards in general and minicabs (Addison Lee in particular!!) as well as vehicles involved in the construction industry. There was an incident featured on here recently about a bus driver on the 76 being filmed using a phone (and I suspect he is now an ex bus driver?) but generally I think bus driving standards are amongst the best in London. Lorry Drivers are always doing like 60 or 70 on the A2 the speed limit is 50. Addison Lee make up there own highway code the pricks always causing accidents. Personally I actually find the WORST drivers are Toyota Prius users. Every single one is an idiot

London's driving standards are terrible no manners everyone's in a rush don't get me started on the minicab drivers , but I did happen to see a Bus driver in Colchester glancing down in traffic with one hand on something on her lap just the other day I couldn't believe what I was seeing it's a symptom of technology I think the temptation is just too much for some people . Sorry but seen far more reckless driving from black cab drivers than minicabs - it really annoys me how people continue to lambast minicab drivers as if they are inferior. However, Addison Lee are in a league of their own when it comes to driving.

I would just charge people on their mobiles while driving with attempted murder. Bit drastic I know, but it will stop it.

The private minicabs playing around with their mobiles looking at a fare? driving slowly along a road looking for somewhere. Black cabs i dont think ive seen them messing with a device whilst driving but they do swing around traffic

I swear almost a quarter of drivers I see when at work use their phones while driving. Almost all of these clearly have no idea what's happening on the road. Personally the only way to deal with this is to a) enforce it in the same way other dangerous driving offences are and b) carry a minimum 2 year outright driving ban if caught. It's the only way it will eradicated, or useage levels drop. Doesn't help when you see police just go straight past someone doing it too It's the same with bicycles running through red lights - police are watching and do absolutely nothing despite how dangerous it is - only takes that extra second to knock someone over or collide with other traffic. I have seen police stop cyclists going through red lights and felt happy. Seen it happen with patrol cars and with police on push bikes giving chase. However a lot of them don't bother. Mobile phone use at the wheel is a joke. I see it on a daily basis, and it is increasing more with company vehicles i.e. van drivers.

Sorry, but let's be fair. Also, it's not really the same. I've never heard of a cyclist going through a red light or being on the phone and killing a motorist. They simply don't have the same killing potential, although they can rarely kill pedestrians. Typical daft cyclist comment. Well they are just like lemmings waiting to be killed or mown down by a vehicle. Its the same way when street furniture barriers moved from many streets because councils start to say they look ugly etc. But then they wonder why people are getting knocked over or are increasingly not using safe crossing places.

Addison Lee are not the worst. In fact I actually rate their driving standard now compared to many of the minicab or taxi companies. There are one or two donuts but the vast majority drive ok. The Uber Toyota Prius and Vauxhall Zafira's are the bleeping nightmare; dangerous and completely clueless.

I've seen several times cyclists running through red lights like they don't give a crap, what makes some think it's OK to do so is beyond me. What also peees me off is when cyclists weave in and out through pedestrians on pavements, very dangerous and it only takes a blink of an eye to risk hitting a pedestrian.

Of course they're not all perfect but minicabs get an unfair amount of stick because of idiots like Addison Lee. As for black cabs, every single time I go into Central London, there they are cutting up other traffic as if they own the road....

With the construction vehicles I don't know how true this is but I have heard that a lot of them get paid per job hence why they are always in a rush, so they get a basic rate and then extra for each load they collect and tip hence there maniac driving , Whilst i'm on lorries I've also noticed that the Royal Mail 7.5t drivers also seem to be in a rush all the time driving like loonies and boy do those DAFs fly I see alot of them at night time as for the minicab drivers as I think has been said the main problem is them using there PDA devices to get jobs while driving and just randomly stopping or braking when there is nothing in front of them I see that on a regular basis wether it be Uber or Addison lee but yes black cabs aren't that much better I find they cut you up a lot and don't use indicator's but as for using phones/devices I'd say the PCO drivers are the worst culprits out of the "professional" drivers .

Got to love the victim blaming and sheer arrogance. I bet you want them to pay road tax as well! Btw, barriers were removed because incompetent motorists crushed cyclists against them.

Most streets had their barriers moved before the cycling craze even started - a lot of it was down to aesthetics and improving the look but also because barriers were no deterrent to people crossing at places that wern't crossing.

Who is the arrogant one? Cyclists need to follow the rules of the roads especially as they are the most vulnerable. Why would a cyclist go through a red light? Does he like the game of chicken. If a driver goes through a red light and gets caught he gets a fine and has to attend a course or points on a license, the same should happen to cyclists IMHO.
