Seperate thread for Bus Expo discussion, pictures etc
The Expo is held every 2 years. It is at NEC Birmingham 1-3 November
Already confirmed that Leon Daniels will be at launch of new Volvo electric (and hybrid) chassis with Wrightbus SRM body.
Various other launches and new types (but not heard of any other definite ones in TfL spec)
Rumour that one of Quality Lines new Mercedes Citaro Ks may be there, and possibly a Volvo Gemini3 for Kingston University, but have to wait and see.
Probably be an electric bus or two, an ADL-BYD e200 is confirmed.
Other items include new look Plaxton Elite coach and one of Reading's new CNG e400s
There is often a surprise new vehicle.
Occasionally get orders announced, will Arriva announce their London order for about 153 hybrid double decks ?

Always wanted to attend one of these, but they always fall within the working week. It is always interesting to see what comes out of this though.

GAL's OM1 has not been in service for three days so I'm wondering if it is getting a "wash and brush up" before appearing at Bus Expo. Would make sense for it to be on display or in the outdoor arena.

It's a really good event to go to, I went a few years ago with a friend who operates a couple of coaches- was amazing to see just how much goes into the building and operation of buses and coaches and where technology is going

Anyone other than me making the trip to Birmingham tomorrow?? I wouldn't mind going but I'm no good at "blagging" or "bluffing" my way into trade shows.

There's no blagging involved. You fill in the form online and make it up as you go along.

In the age of social media and digital content we're all freelance writers/journalists/photographers. There's your blagging card. (that said, given the nature of the event I doubt they would pull you up on the journo claim but that particular one might need backing up with an NUJ card at more 'senitive' events (e.g. the arms fair at Excel!)

There's no blagging involved. You fill in the form online and make it up as you go along. The "make it up as you go along" bit is the bit I struggle with to be honest. Not good at putting up a "front" which may get questioned even in an entirely innocent way. Anyway not to worry I'm sure you and plenty others will provide some good feedback and photos.

Anyone else notice that the new Volvo electric SRM wasn't on yesterday's Wrightbus press release. Today's launch in Birmingham is going to contain a surprise because some details that leaked out were taken down
Similarly for about an hour last Route One had some details of ADL developments before removing the article from their website (it included some fuel saving and suggestion that rear axle would be replaced with a fat single tyre rather than double wheels which would take less space from saloon). Probably reappear after the expo launch.
Wish I was going.

There is an ADL info pack in the news section of ADL website
Can't access or link it at moment as on a train with rubbish signal
