That would be terrific. As a resident of the Havelock area, the people do need another bus service. The measly little E5 always seems to be packed. It would be amazing if a double decker route would go down there. Larger buses, new links and a frequency increase.

I have not yet seen whether new routes 278 & X140 are out to tender. If not, maybe they will automatically run initially from Abellio & Metroline respectively, using resources currently on routes 427 & 140. Then routes 140/X140 and 278/427 would have new tenders in Sep 21 and Apr 22 respectively (barring 2-year extensions) but with potentially different operators eg Metroline 140 / London Sovereign X140 and Abellio 278 / Metroline 427.

I think that it will come from the 140 contract.

I think you are jumping ahead somewhat. I don't see the West London changes kicking in this year at all as the Crossrail train frequency will be low until Dec 2019 and no through service. It is only after Crossrail services ramp up to Heathrow and Reading that there will be a high enough frequency to warrant mass route withdrawals and re-routing. Therefore there is still time for TfL to tender additional services or reflect potential changes in any upcoming retendering of affected services.

Or find that there is not enough money to implement these after all ...

I think they are holding off on this one for now. With the mess that is happening with the crossrail on the western section and the constant issues with the GWR network and network rail.

As the 391 doesn't serve one of the West London Elizabeth line Stations and to be withdrawn between Hammersmith and Sands End being replaced by new route 306. Does this mean the new route 306 will be introduced when the new 391 contract starts in December 2020?.

Does this mean the new route 306 will be introduced when the new 391 contract starts in December 2020?. It is obviously easy for a new contract to be different, as dont have to vary existing one. Changing a contract requires a variation, clearly the Operator will not be keen if it cuts profiability, so compensation may be required, could either be cash or giving alternative. Potentially the split route could be divided and continue until contracts are retendered (as two seperate routes). In the case of 391 the Hammersmith - Richmond is proposed as 15 minute interval service, but there are more general changes planned dor Richmond so route mart become something else.

I got an email from TfL saying that the results for all the Elizabeth Line consultations have arrived and here they are: consultations.tfl.gov.uk/buses/elizabeth-line/We plan to go ahead with the changes consulted on for routes 140/N140, X140, 223, N266, 391, 427, 697 and E3. We will also be going ahead with changes to routes 218, 266, 278, 306, 440, 698 and E10 with some amendments to those consulted on. The introduction of the changes to routes 95, E5 and H32 will be delayed until new roads are available at the Southall Waterside (Gasworks) site. We will not be going ahead with the proposed changes to routes 112, E1 and 120.

We will also be making the changes consulted on to route 440 in the Acton and Park Royal areas. However, we will not be going ahead with the changes proposed to the route the Chiswick area at this time and have consulted separately on revised proposals to route 440 in Chiswick, which can be viewed at: consultations.tfl.gov.uk/buses/routes-27-and-440/We will be introducing larger 60 seat single deck buses on route E10, but will not be altering the route frequency. On route 698, we will be withdrawing one rather than two return journeys. We will not going ahead with the extension of route 112 between Ealing Broadway and Osterley, Tesco, but will be consulting separately on revised proposals on a new service for this corridor in due course. We will also not be going ahead with the frequency reduction on route E1 and the frequency increase on route 120. UNQUOTE I guess there is still a plan to serve the Brentford Golden mile, but not with the 112. For time being will remain just the H91 The SDEs are clearly going to be replaced by 60 Seat buses on E10 (but as it is awaiting tender results, new Operator is unknown) The 391 is reduced to a low frequency route, which runs along high frequency routes for majority of shortened length, I could easily see this cut back to Gunnersbury area, or if 440 is tweaked to cover the area then the 391 could be diverted to Osterley

Interesting, interesting. Most of those plans seemed dead in the water because money make not have been available. Not surprised that almost everything is going ahead. 112 and 440 not happening seemed inevitable.
How much network will there be left in a year's time at this rate?!

I believe these changes are all due to be implemented when Crossrail opens next December.
A few routes will have to be going out to tender shortly!

Now I predict some of these routes won’t be tendered but given to operators to compensate for TfL’s withdrawal of other contracts, via some clever legal wording. Could easily see , for instance, Stamford Brook running at least the 306 to compensate in part for the loss of the 10. It also makes sense as capacity and staff are there. I reaffirm my speculation that the X140 is going to be LT operated.

For operational ease I would expect the X140 to be linked with the 140, so both can then link onto the N140. At least that is how it was described.
