The Beast is having one last hurrah in North London. Snowing heavily. Gritter (Veolia one with actual grit) has been out, I guess the TfL ones ran out of table salt yesterday the snow is settling, more forecast this evening. I think it will warm up from Tuesday though. What an odd month it's been. So warm on Friday as well, almost shirt weather

I really am FED UP with this ludicrous weather.

It's in the Mirror which is more credible than the Express www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/beast-east-set-continue-forecasters-12214298Signs already up on lampposts at A10 / A109 junction

The route W3 goes via Alexandra palace which is very hilly however I’ve seen videos of the route W3 passing through Alexandra palace back in 2012 when it was snowing and the buses was runned by alx400 and gemini1 yet now the route doesn’t go through Alexandra palace or even serve the route at all how comes? Was the W3 diverted yesterday (Thursday)? I used it on Wednesday afternoon and it was running the normal route - nice views of the snow round Ally Pally. The roads seemed fine then, although of course there has been more snowfall since then. The TfL website isn't showing any disruption on the W3 at present (although not the most reliable source of information). Nah that day they reduced the service from wood green to northumberland Park

Appears the weather forecast is for some transitory snow on Saturday, too early to say if it will cause any disruption.
No doubt some bus companies will continue to use summer tyres and wonder why their buses cant get up hills. I think it was Stagecoach that announced few months back that whole national fleet is being converted to all season tyres with 3PMSF (3 Peak mountain snow flake logo) rating. No idea how many are done so far.
A friend in the energy industry has also given Heads Up that they are following weather models, and looks like polar vortex is shifting around to a rare position that is expected to give Brutal below zero conditions from second week of January in UK.
Sensibly have put all season tyres on wife's car, which I will borrow in case I need to get to work. (My car came with summer tyres that are too new to change, yes I drive now, buses too unreliable and slow these days).

Way too early to suggest what snow, if any, will fall in January. Weather models change consistently, especially more than a week or so in the future.

Applying my username, the Met office has today issued this. Severe cold expected last week of Jan and into Feb Winds from North or East with periods of snow www.metoffice.gov.uk/news/releases/2019/colder-weather-coming..... finally get a chance to give my new all season tyres a good testing when driving to work, I read the 2wd car with all seasons should go up a 10% (1 in 10) hill covered in snow. Hopefully I won’t get behind someone with a 4x4 on summer tyres failing to get up a 1% (1 in 100) hill. m.youtube.com/watch?v=atayHQYqA3g

I suspect your tyres may have a longer wait for a workout. Anyway the UK usually gets its worst Winter weather just as Spring is knocking on the door - the weather has been weeks and weeks behind schedule for the last couple of years.
