It's tolerable when it's freshly fallen and it's easy to walk on and the scenery is pretty. Beyond that I hate the wretched stuff. It gets compacted, freezes and then as you say it becomes lethal to go anywhere. The latest indignity for pedestrians in Waltham Forest is that the slightest hint of ice sees loads of de-icing material applied to the new cycle lanes but NOT on the road or the pavement. Nice to see who has got the priority and the money. Waltham Forest were always abysmal when it comes to clearing / de-icing pavements but this is a kick in the teeth given how few cyclists use the d*mn cycle lanes.

Driving at 70 in snow is VERY irresponsible It seems Saturday is going to be the warmest day, then things tumble quicker than Debenhams' share price minus 12 is apparently coming. If the Daily Fail takes time off the Brexit deadlock to mention it, something's gonna happen... they reckon Tuesday night onwards now

I don’t think the coming week is going to be particularly snowy. Might get some, but not to the extent of Feb/March last year. Temperatures then were below freezing daytime : we’re looking at around plus 4-6 this coming week, which might bring snow in evenings but not much in daytime and fairly extensive thawing of overnight snow.

Metcheck is showing temps between 6 and 8, not cold enough for snow... but then Tuesday's last lot caught many out

It’s not like it’s an off the shelf Range Rover either; it’ll be considerably heavier with additional security features. Yet it got put on its side by a little Kia? 🤨

Yet it got put on its side by a little Kia? 🤨 I am sure the lady in the Kia was not speeding, especially with her 9 month old in the back. Luckily the tot was fine. The most important thing is Philip got a new car for the following day. We couldn't see him on one of Sanders Coaches DB250 Lowlanders popping to Tesco could we, like most folk his age? #firstworldproblems He finally issued an apology, though I'm sure it was just as sincere as the ones you hear when the 14:05 to Staines has been cancelled Weather update: raining like mad, a bit blowy. Haringey Council decared curfew and Peugeot 308 police cars are patrolling the streets to deter people popping to the Turkish shop for milk The Father Ted reference above cracks me up I loved that show Jack might have to add 'feck' to the nanny filter if further references to the show continue

They've taken the warm-stored Class 308 out of Ilford train shed in preparation in case the diesel tanks in the 172's freeze due to extreme weather. Seen at Barking this morning Cue "Beast From The East / Cold Snap / Brrritain in the Freezer" headlines from tomorrow onwards from the Express hopefully Haringey have enough money to pay Veolia to grit around Muswell Hill or goodbye 43, 134, 144, 299 and W7
