To be honest I check the weather all the time, they did not say London and the South East until last minute. Even when they did, they said it would be more sleet I follow @thesnowdreamer on Twitter and he was pretty confident about a week ago that there would be a fair dumping of snow. The big weather forecasters and much of the media tend to err on the side of caution and this, in turn, means some councils get caught out. Thankfully for me, Bromley and Sevenoaks councils were on the ball and I also saw gritters out quite a bit yesterday keeping the roads passable

I think that there was significantly less snow in west London than any other part, certainly through Ealing and the surrounding areas there was very little, comparing to around East Dulwich and Peckham Rye where the snow covered pretty much the entire ground West London is kept warmer by at least 6 degrees by all the solid traffic on roads through South Ealing, Brentford and the A312 through Heathrow I was in Mayfair today and all the snow has gone. When I headed further east towards Islington, tons of the stuff! Side roads very icy in Tottenham, lots of lying snow. Blackheath has tons of snow, it's in the Daily Fail today www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11532101/UK-weather-forecast-Schools-stay-shut-Britain-braces-snow-ice-today.htmlThe weather is slightly milder by Sunday at 8 degrees before getting cold again next week

January the coldest month of winter or featuring the coldest weather of winter, with highest risk of severe cold in UK/Europe. The cold could be quite extensive in mid lats of Northern Hemisphere something we have not seen in a number of years...Which matches what's happening for London at the moment. Temps of 2 to 3 will be back to 8 or 9 briefly before plunging again. BBC only deal with 3 days or so at the most, so probably won't let us know what may happen. The "bit of fog" we got resulted in all that snow on Sunday The 11 and 13 temps will drop off so don't get too comfortable if it's slightly warmer over the weekend

The Snow Dreamer is okay but does sometimes over promise and tries to generate a lot of hype / excitement. He has a few run ins with other weather forecasters.

A friend in Woking had sent a picture of his garden on Monday afternoon - the quantum of snow he had, I had that much snow in my garden at 7pm on Sunday! Blackheath still has a lot of snow and the residential roads are quite icy / snowy. I myself took a tumble in the morning while on the way to the bus stop - still very gingerly as some of the thaw has now turned into ice so very precarious to walk in

The Snow Dreamer is okay but does sometimes over promise and tries to generate a lot of hype / excitement. He has a few run ins with other weather forecasters. He’s an amateur forecaster who makes no bones about the fact that he adores snow. When it comes to the ‘big’ weather events, he’s usually spot on. I only have his side of things but it appears to me that there’s a lot of jealousy in the amateur weather forecasting world and the fact that he is right more often than he’s wrong rubs some people up the wrong way

The Snow DreamerSunak Administration is okay but does sometimes over promise and tries to generate a lot of hype / excitement. Drifted into current affairs, sorry Looks to be back to single figures next week after brief mild spell on Sunday and Monday. Potential for snow before the mild stuff hits. Temps up to 4 for Thursday

These next few days with temperature up & downs is going to be fun....not! Which is why the 363 and P13 are once again on diversion because of a burst water main on Underhill Road.

These next few days with temperature up & downs is going to be fun....not! Burst water mains and Thames Water - the perfect storm Already been a burst main in Park Royal yesterday morning. The last freezing night for a couple of days before plunging back to zero this time next week. Might be able to find a jet wash open to clean the car before they ice up again... www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11544153/Blizzards-batter-Britain-WEEK-Met-Office-warns-4in-snow-set-fall-today.htmlBlizzards to "Batter us into next week" might be hyperbole, more than likely snow for Scotland, but probably cold again. This week was just the trailer

Warm spell over the weekend, up to 14 temperatures halve on Tuesday ahead of next Arctic blast Temperatures won’t really go up until Sunday evening Likely to be snow on leading edge on Sunday Then a period of very cold rain, hitting deeply frozen ground, so could be the rare, but horrible freezing rain for a while (effectively get an ice rink, and everybody and everything slips around) But Sunday evening and overnight into Monday will have warmed up enough to melt everything Looks like the milder air is not a return to Atlantic dominated weather, but more a transitory interlude, and cold is looking like it might be back few days later. Definitely further north, but more of a battleground over London area.
