Go-Ahead should be able to reshuffle the fleet to allow the 51 to run smoothly when MB take it over. If they are really short then they could borrow a few OmniCitys from Stagecoach for a couple weeks until everything is fully sorted out. Someone correct me if I’m wrong but hopefully the 51 won’t need any extras at all? The buses refurbished for it are EN28-40 {13} and WVL413-21 {9}. That’s a total of 22 vehicles, minus EN33 which was destroyed, and now we know the rest and WVL413 are safe that brings it down to 21 vehicles. That should surely be fine for a PVR-19 route? A bus would have to replace it to match the TVR. We shall see what happens. Remember MB now have 7 DDs which are either destroyed or Fire Damaged and cannot run 7 DDs short on 8th December. Baring in mind the 51, 104, 178 & 291 are all coming on the same date PVR 52, TVR of 59 required. A possibility that Scanias could possibly return to service.

I’ve noticed that there’s always at least one insensitive comment made whenever there is a tragedy on here... I don't think this can be called a tragedy, fortunately there has been no injuries or loss of life and I can't see any harm in a light hearted comment. Perhaps Go Ahead will be able to hire Scanias from Stagecoach for the 51 as I assume they'll have no further use for them? I don't think there is a shortage of buses to London spec that are surplus RATP are currently withdrawing 100+ buses (loss of 10, 292 and replacements by DLEs)

It's now been confirmed on the LVF Facebook group which buses were involved. They are: E60 E94 E211 E224 EH18 EN33 EN37 EN40 (apparently suffered a little damaged and can be repaired, probably heat damage) MEC54 MEC56 MEC60 SEN21 E136, originally thought to be destroyed has actually transferred to RR for the 104 EN40 is in service on the 320 so unless it's another bus the damage was very minor!

Most probably just a broken window then from the heat

It seems that MB had two E’s that weren’t allocated so that’s one covered straight away now E136 has moved to RR and 882 was also effectively spare as well so 5 more to find which shouldn’t be hard given there is the aforementioned Scanias plus E12, 14 & 15 at SW.

Maybe not but Go Ahead is a multi million pound company they will bounce back. The other member put something along the lines of that there will be some nice unusual vehicles running and was slated for it.

He was slated because of the wording that was used which was ‘positive’ - unfortunate or not, I wouldn’t call anything about it positive personally other than no one being hurt.

I've seen several comments (fortunately away from this forum) being unhappy about MECs being lost and wishing it was WSs instead… . Too many enthusiasts go overboard with hate against StreetLites (or StreetDecks) . Yes I know they're not the "best" buses out there, but those WSs are used on the lower frequency rural routes in that area which can't use anything bigger, therefore a shortage of those buses would have a bigger effect on passengers that don't have alternatives available. Especially as it is more difficult to find buses of that size in the fleet.

There are 8000+ buses in London and such stupid thoughts. They should have wished the Fire didn’t happen at all. Unfortunately it did, buses are replaceable. I do wonder if such enthusiasts will rather someone to burn instead of a bus because the way people comment on some groups these days makes you want to throw up. Thank goodness no one lost their lives. 11 Buses have burned, which is unfortunate but no one lost their lives.

In fact, given TfL's financial woes, I want them to continue in service as long as planned, given their resale value will be zilch. Passengers, and the bus routes themselves, are way more important than our individual petards about the buses used on them.

I must admit that it did cross my mind that it was a shame three MEC's were destroyed and three WS's would have been much less of a loss but it's no different to a car dealer wishing three old bangers had gone up in flames rather than three top of the range Mercs.

What impact, if any, was there on services yesterday (Friday)?
