Were exactly would this disappear elsewhere to? Not like the bus services are exactly great in those parts! I agree with joefrombow that a lower frequency would be fine on those sections. They would take an uber to Chingford or Brentwood for National Rail services Of which TFL would still get the revenue from the Elizabeth line and the LO anyways.

The extremities of the Overground would love to get 6tph during the peak when on a normal timetable! Not a lot of sympathy here! This is exactly it why does Epping or Debden need 6 trains an hour outside peaks 2 trains a hour would be fine , not ideal but it's not an ideal situation. I agree that 2 tph is sufficient for Epping off peak, as you say it's not ideal but resources need to be focused on the busiest sections in the current situation.

It’s a conundrum. The Epping branch is very busy in the peaks hence trains need to be sent there. You could in theory cut the Epping service in the off-peak and concentrate the trains in central London. However you would in theory end up with a more frequent service in central London through in the off peak than the peak which wouldn’t make sense. 21tph is not far off the 24tph in the normally timetabled off-peak.
You could put trains away in the off peak but you want to maximize the service you have with the trains you have available. You could save a train or two every other train reversing at Loughton, but 2tph to Epping is wild, reversing 7tph in Loughton most likely wouldn’t work without having to use stepping back, or some messy moves timetabled using two platforms - it’s the only spot you can reverse except for Debden and sending trains to Hainault via Woodford - and even then the business wants to keep WOO-HAI as a shuttle…
In situations like these having a simpler timetable is helpful.

They would take an uber to Chingford or Brentwood for National Rail services Or the complementary rail replacement bus that runs to Chingford from Epping I believe but isnt advertised anywhere online on tfl website or the extras running on the 20 and I think the 150 aswell but literally zero online about it , another tfl failure spending money to run a complementary service but not telling anyone about it online . It seems that a further email had been sent out (to Central Line users) which... shocker (!) have included a timetable of the Chingford shuttle service! Don't know why that can't be plonked prominently on their line status page though.

Turns out there’s actually a link to a page on the TfL website on the line status page on the TfL App. Page linked here. tfl.gov.uk/modes/tube/central-line-disruption

Today on Central delays due to "Track Train fault" at Mile End , when on the train had a good Driver who explained that due to a fault trains would be running at reduced speed as far as Leyton all over the weekend and into next week due to rolling stock issues and some kind of track fault ?

19 temporary speed restrictions were implemented today as the TRT Track Recording Train 1960 Stock is unavailable to cover the Line. A temporary use of a ATMS Automatic Track Monitoring System 1972 mkII Stock from the Bakerloo should solve some.

Apparently they’re running the Boxing Day timetable this weekend with revised TTN 99/24 starting Monday.

New Central timetable is in, though the temporary speed restrictions are still in place.
All of the White City - Hainault diagrams are cancelled at the moment.

I went on the Central line yesterday, seemed deserted and not much passengers compared to the Elizabeth line. The speed restrictions was noticeable, especially between Stratford and Mile End, seemed like the train was doing 25mph if that. Took ages.

That section normally takes ages as it is so it really must feel long now.

Not only have I seen a huge increase in graffiti on central line trains, but you know it’s really dire when TfL are sending trains out with graffiti cleaned from just the windows!!
Are the soeed restrictions still in place? Can’t say I’ve noticed any go-slows on the central line lately tbh
