Has this service actually started? On my recent forays to central London I haven't seen any sign of it (or, for that matter, any publicity!).

Any further news on this, or has it been kicked into the long grass?

Any further news on this, or has it been kicked into the long grass? The LSP has now been approved but the website hasn’t been updated so still gives a 504 error to anyone looking for fares and times!

It’s been announced on FB that the service will begin on Saturday 15th October I wish them well but hope there is demand outside of the enthusiast community! I see a comment on FB that tickets are £5 single which seems expensive for a relatively short route.

The ads I’ve seen on RM871/1941 at Showbus today suggest that an all day ticket will be £5, which will be rather more palatable.

They have to cover 2 lots of wages plus operating costs. Indeed that's why I was concerned that there wouldn't be enough demand for the service especially launching in Autumn. Having said that one thing that has surprised me is just how successful the Stagecoach / City Sightseeing tour has been! buses always seen to be carrying very decent loading's despite the tour market being crowded and all charging very similar prices.

I suspect it will be more aimed at tourists where currently with a weak pound, they’ll get more bang for their buck so to say - that’s my guess anyway

A new operator, Londoner Buses, started operating in Central London today.
They're running three Routemasters on a short route between Piccadilly Circus and Waterloo. Timetabled every 20 minutes between 9am and 6pm. Charging £5 for an all-day hop-on hop-off ticket. It's supposed to be a daily service.
Saw them out today and they seemed to have a few passengers. Very smart buses. Friendly-looking outfit. Anyone else caught them yet?

Hopefully this will make it more visible to tourists who seem very unaware of what 'A' currently is and where it runs. Some of their buses already have banner ads for the new route.
