Completely agree, the fact they were just mentioned here to be a yellow cab as opposed to a Checker Taxi sums up how tourists would think of buses as a red double decker bus as opposed to a Routemaster bus. I think there's very few modes of transport that are iconic enough for the public to be able to differentiate by model type and I think the more common one tends to be aviation related as opposed to anything motor related. Probably only the Blackpool trams would immediately make people aware of a difference between the new and the old. The disappointing thing about Blackpool now is that the heritage trams only run as pre booked tours now. It was great before the network was updated as they ran the normal service but this is not possible now as the can’t serve the new platforms and only stop at limited places like North Pier.

I didn't know it had to be a pre booked tour. I thought it was like the TFL 15H. I did know it was only limited stops but I thought it was more open to anyone to use.

The new trams offer level boarding and alighting at the platforms.

Pre booking tours started after lockdown finished and has carried on since then. There are only illuminations tours, promenade and coastal tours and occasional special themed tours.

I guess atleast if you are visiting you can still see the old ones running along the seafront even if you aren't on one.
