This was posted on the Londoner FB group. From 1st July a new service is starting, running between Waterloo and Green Park. It will be run under the name ‘Londoner Buses’ www.transporagroup.co.uk/services1

Having seen the suggested ticket prices is likely to fail! Sorry to sound negative. The tourists market is already very crowded but at least with them you get a full tour and 24 ticket.
It’s been suggested the company is the same one who runs catch 22 buses in Blackpool. I go there most years and the buses are very hot and miss!

I think those categories on the website are just generic ? And will they have to have a DDA compliant bus running the route aswell ? Will be interesting to see , hopefully it works out for them and they get a few more routes maybe a City of London & Tower tour ( and I can leave my job and apply as a conductor 💭💭 ) but time will tell ..

I assume any routemasters will have to have a PSVAR conversion, otherwise be illegal to operate on a stagecarriage service.

Only way they could get round it would be if they entirely juplicated an existing service. Ie Green Park to Aldwych via the 6 and 9 or Piccadilly Circus to Waterloo over the 139.

Suggested elsewhere £19 single and £25 return but this could be a mistake.

I think you can get exemptions from certain parts of the requirements, eg if a button is a few centimetres off spec, but all other requirements still apply to a vehicle. Not sure a blanket exemption which I assume an unmodified Routemaster would need has ever been given? Anyone aware of any circumstances?

I thought it was linked to an existing Manchester sightseeing bus firm. Apparently their base is in Wandsworth. Aimed at tourists and as others have already pointed out it’s a crowded market with tourism yet to fully recover. If it was a regular service that Londoners could use id be more excited.

Interestingly, someone who knew details of the project said it was aimed not just at tourists but at anyone even though some early ticket details suggest otherwise. Buses will run daily up to 19:00

Does anyone know if the service started?
The website is broken in places!
Surprised they used a GAL Routemaster on the homepage.
