I have been using First's capital connect for over a month now and the amount of delays/cancellations they make is unbelievable. Whether its their fault or Network rail is another story. But the 319s they use are absolutely horrible! I have too been using FCC for about a month to and from gatwick airport. I don't think the 06:35 from East Croydon has ever been on time once, sometimes it's down to unavailable crew but mostly it's nitwit rail who place a track cleaning machine in front which then buggers everything up after for about half hour.

Yeah i had one last week that was delayed and when it arrived it soon got packed. We spent 5 minutes at Elephant and Castle because the doors wouldnt close due to people obstructing them. As we got near Shortlands the driver announced i am running so late that the next train is following us 2 or 3 minutes behind. That one was delayed too and should of had about 20-30 mins between them, anyway ours was then terminated at Bromley South lucky i wanted the stop before. I have also experienced unavailable crew.

A mock up of the new class 700 train will be on show at excel next week. 29 Jan 2pm to 8pm
Apparently will be free and open to the public. So if free why not go along.
Siemens is building 115 trains, some 8 car others 12 car. and a couple of prototype cars are at the Wildenrath test track. First units expected early 2016 then deliveries approx one train per week

"Govia Thameslink, a company majority-owned by Go-Ahead" Why does this not surprise me?

DfT Press ReleaseThe new operator will bring the new Thameslink CL700 trains into service and buy new trains for the Gatwick Express service and for the inner suburban service into Moorgate (replacing the class 313s). Govia Press Release gives some additional details on improvements and the financing of the contract.

Many people will be glad to see the back of First Capital Connect, hopefully Govia employ 'Southern' style service and standards.

Those excellent 442's are too young to be replaced!
