Yes I can believe that ;D Anyway a request from me (perhaps if I put it in early enough something can be done ) New Years Eve, would it be possible for the correct destinations to be on the system, now shouldn't be too hard seeing as schedules are being changed. It's the one night of the year we really need to have the iBus switched on as we get a lot of irregular bus users, however by not having the correct destination we are having to turn it off. I've already had my moan at our night controller to get BX buses fitted with Elephant & Castle blinds and a destination code put on the cards If you need to quote precedent on this then gently remind them that all the RMs at Camberwell had an 'Aldwych' destination on their blinds even though this was only ever a NYE terminal point for the 12. Moz And guess what, despite having Aldwych on the N89 it seems we only have it for the same reason as there's no ibus curtailment for it..hence I drove with a silent bus last night ;D

They can turn it off, but it is a contractual obligation to have it on. Authorisation to turn it off is only granted if it is giving incorrect information etc.

Moz Connex Tridents also had Aldwych on them at a very early time when they only had the 3 and 322. We still do have aldwych destinations on some of the tridents. Sticking back to suggesstions, it would be nice to have a button where it would annouce the route and destination. Fair enough, the bus annouces it anyway when the doors are opened but this only happens when your at a stop. If im stuck in traffic, and I get a curtailment. I always play the annoucement' destination has changed' It can be annoying when it you wait so long for it to annouce it especially after you can hear passengers asking where is it going?

I always thought it automatically announced the new/updated destination whenever it was changed, unless TfL are now encouraging drivers to use the PA system.

What i usually do in this situation is don't play dest change announcement until just before I'm pulling up to the next stop. Controller gives curtailment. Put turn into MDT Sit in traffic As i'm pulling up to next stop play dest change announcement open doors... hey presto 126 to Mottingham. No one comes and asks questions while sitting in the traffic cos they don't know about it. In my experience the ibus only announces new destination while still in a bus stop. If moving or sitting in traffic away from a stop it waits until next stop for new announcement

I was doing a 174 a couple of weeks back and was showing and announcing "Harold Hill, Gooshays Drive" for the entire length of the route yet when I got up there and the iBus says "This bus terminates here" I STILL got asked why I wasn't going through to Dagnam Park Square. But then again I also find it helps if passengers don't just assume that the 2nd of 2 buses in a stop together is the one that's going all the way through

If moving or sitting in traffic away from a stop it waits until next stop for new announcement Thats what I normally do except that I play the 'dest has changed' straight away and play it again when I get to the stop. Sometimes, we get turns to destinations which are only two stops away, which is another reason why I would like the ibus to annonuce the destination straight away. Of course, if we get turns to destinations yet we don't serve any stops leading upto it (for e.g. no one wants to get off), then passengers wont know until we get there ;D It might be critical for them as they could have got off the stops before and changed onto another bus or other forms of transport. Its not really a big deal but I think it could be a good thing. Of course, we still do have the PA... Also, I think the ibus system has changed on our buses and it no longer annouces the route/destination when only the front doors are opened. Maybe its just some of the buses I driven or has anyone else experienced the same thing

I'm suprised the destination announcement is not on the menu list for the driver to press at anytime. I know that the driver can press the relevant bus stop name as many times as they want.

The doors have to be opened it uses the same switches as the bus uses to tell itself the doors are open.

I know that the driver can press the relevant bus stop name as many times as they want. That doesn't seem to work anymore either, used to be handy when coming off diversion as you could play the next stop, as it is now it doesn't play until your right on top of it.

Also the ibus only announces destination if you are actually at a bus stop (if you open the doors between stops the MDT stays on clock display) so wouldn't make any difference if you was sitting in traffic
