Spotted VW1398 with its hazards on and blinds set to blank, resting at "The Drive" bus stop in Edgware around 10am this morning. It was working on the 186 but went off the radar at Hendon War Memorial... I wonder what happened there? It’s tracking again on LVF now, could it have been curtailed and asked to hold there for a while?

Despite UX having (if my dodgy calculations are correct!) 24 TE's, a 25th being TE1742 not being used since 24th May, for a PVR of 14! U4-12, U3-officially 2) the U4 has started seeing VWH workings on a regular basis. Since the 607 moved out to G, with the exception of Sundays, the U3 now almost has a 50/50 allocation of TE/DE(L)'s with it seeing as much as 70% TE on some days! As a little 6yr old when the route was introduced 30 years ago, I never once would of imagined this little back street route would ever see DD workings, let alone the amount the route currently sees! I thought the U3 was officially 1 decker There's been officially 2 for quite a few years now, 1st one does the peak hour/school journeys and the 2nd is out for most the day. Although if you look at the LVF at the moment, there's currently 8 TE's out and about over only 4 e200's!

The only problem is that the bus stop it was at (The Drive) is not along its normal line of route, and seems an odd choice given that Edgware Station is literally 30 seconds up the road. There were also no people onboard, so I suspected there was some sort of mechanical fault, though still a very strange choice of location if this was the case?

You're saying that the 240 will have VWs by the end of this summer? Where would they come from?

You're saying that the 240 will have VWs by the end of this summer? Where would they come from? Probably a mix of sources, from the 90 gaining VMHs to cuts on other routes releasing VWs directly and indirectly.

Ah, so it mainly depends on when the electrics for routes 43 and 134 enter service, displacing the VMHs to other routes, allowing the VWs to be released. That makes sense. Apart from a new blindset will they need refurbishing?

Apart from a new blindset will they need refurbishing? The W7 could get hybrids - most likely VMHs and then the remaining VWs at HT can be sent off to EW. If that did happen, it'd be funny having ex EW TEHs at HT and ex HT VWs at EW
