I was lucky enough to ride on one of the new trains just earlier at around 2:45pm. Seeing that it's a one-off chance, I've recorded a short clip of it at Stockwell which will be uploaded later on. I was gonna record the full journey to Brixton, but unfortunately my battery died as soon as the train departed. Sorry to bring up this old thread BTW. Not a one off chance at all now. On Saturday trains 271. 272 and 273 run two rounders each (Seven Sisters-Brixton-Walthamstow-Brixton-Seven Sisters) starting at 09.17 and the last one back at 19.39. They will all be the same train on al three running numbers. On Sunday running numbers 271 and 273 run, giving two rounders commencing Seven Sisters at 07.58, and later in the day finishing at 19.19, with an additional run as 273 starting at Seven Sisters at 14.17. During the week (as 273 and 217), two rounders starting at Seven Sisters at 20.17 and last run back to Seven Sisters at 00.59. All runs are with train set #2, train set #1 not being available at the moment!

The vid has just been uploaded, here it is: www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsQpLypwEhw I was so thrilled by the speed and shorter journey times that the 2009 TS has to offer. The final run from Stockwell to Brixton took about less than 2 minutes as far I can remember.

Yes, but since the ENTIRE line, except the depot itself at Northumberland Park, is underground, it's a bit academic don't you think!

We all know. ;D It won't be too long until we gradually see more of these arriving on the line.

Trains 1, 2 and 4 are now in the depot - train 3 is in bits.
Trains 1 and 2 are due to go back to Bombardier for modifications to make them the same as the rest of the fleet (Mainly the cab, but someone has said something to me about different interior panels).

Unit 11004 was out in service earlier this afternoon. Noted it leaving Walthamstow at 16:57 as running number 236. First time I have seen one during the peak periods.

Seems the 1657 dep. from Walthamstow (run. no. 236) is a regular for the new 2009 stock (saw 11005/6 on it this time).
The on board announcements now even tell you which side the doors will open, approaching Blackhorse Road "the next station is Blackhorse Road, the doors will open on the right hand side [of direction of travel]"
Upon the trains themselves there is a poster explaning the new fleet and that one new train will enter service every two weeks.

The seats are very hard I must say. A far cry from the 67ts.

I caught my first 09ts earler. 11008 (if I remember correctly) Although they have good acceleration, a bright interior I wasn't very impressed. The forced air ventillation thing was non exsistant! The DVA wasn't working properly so the driver was using the PA which was very muffled and as Jamaal said, the seats were very hard. When I alighted at Kings Cross the outside LCD screens were displaying DESTINATION:WALTHAMSTOW CENTRAL, NEXT STATION:STOCKWELL!!

Sorry to bump this...but ALL 2009 stock have been WITHDRAWN from service.
If you are a regular user of the line, you may know of the all to frequent severe delays/suspensions of the service over the past few weeks. These have mainly been caused by the failure of the 2009 stock and/or thier new signalling (which is overlaid on top of the existing signalling for the 67 stock).
In addition, the door sensors are too sensitive. If too many people lean on the doors when the train is crowded, the train automatically applies the brakes!
Thus until all the problems with the 2009 stock have been ironed out, there will no more in service (they are all parked up at NP depot) and current deliveries have been held back at Derby. As a consequence the line is now 10 trains short of its PVR...

Whilst I know that parking/stabling is at a premium at Northumberland Park, you would have thought that LU would have transferred a number of trains elsewhere on the network for storage 'just in case' this sort of thing happened. But no, too easy. As a result, dear old Joe Public is left totally inconvenienced and as a tribute to some pen pusher's ego! LU management strike again (well, at least they did it without the aid of Bob Crow!). ;D

BUMP
Haven't used the Victoria Line for a while and got my first ride on one of these this morning in the rush hour.
Nice and bright but from the outside with their straight/flat sides and small windows there is something very old fashioned about their look. I do however think the destinations on the outside middles of the cars is a good idea - but will anybody read them?
I also wonder why some of the grab poles are in 'Victoria Line Blue' whilst others are in 'Piccadilly Line Blue'?
