Old Street roundabout has been an accident black spot for years and not just for cyclists, improvements were long overdue It was made worse around 15 years ago when they tried to make it cycle safety by narrowing the approaches to the roundabout. This was then worse for buses and HGV's as the lanes were now to tight and resulted in more collisions at the roundabout due to the narrow lane'ing effect. I wouldn’t mind a few more junctions being made bus / cycle only, like Bank. Would solve a lot of problems in one go

Did the 258 end to end today. On the South Harrow-Harrow Town Centre section there was appalling congestion around Harrow School as a result of the narrow roads and the sheer number of cars. I don’t think sending the 395 this way to add to the congestion is a good idea, it’ll just hamper the 395 because of all the congestion on that section and to be honest, I don’t see why there’s any need to reroute the 395 It would make sense though to reroute the 395 via Harrow-on-the-Hill - and cut the 258 back to Harrow Bus Station (although - I know, I know - where would they stand?). I have read before that there may be a general network review for Harrow. I'm not sure I agree with that - the 395 gets rammed as it is and from what I've been told, the 258 picks up a hefty crowd during school times from the top of the hill. Re-routing the 395 sounds like a recipe for disaster and one of those, "if it ain't broke, don't fix" scenarios.

Adding the 395 to that mix makes no sense. The 395 too is also heaving.

Sorry to bother you all with my stupid questions as usual. What the best part and route to get the VLA’s on?

Sorry to bother you all with my stupid questions as usual. What the best part and route to get the VLA’s on? The 173 would be the best route, and the best part would be along the A13. Between Dagenham Asda and Beckton Station, however the rest of the route is still quite nice so would be fun e2e. Just watch out for the service though, it's questionable at best due to the A13. That also said the best part, being the A13 can also become the worst part as it has a habit of descending into chaos if the slightest thing goes wrong on it and that happens pretty much everyday.

DX are really struggling with deckers again I noticed two ENLs on the 173 today. I hope the situation improves before the 128 leaves as that will mean even less spare deckers available.

With how frequently this is happening I'm surprised they've not transferred a spare double Decker from elsewhere in the fleet to help out, especially after the 128 leaves they'll certainly need an extra spare.

There would still be accidents there, cant see anything changing, there is a mindset of certain cyclists that they are untouchable. There are a lot of people in general like that, not just cyclists. Indeed there are, from motorists, motor cyclists to pedestrians as well cyclists. People are in just too much of a hurry and don't want to wait for one another and take stupid risks.
The problem for cyclists (and pedestrians), is that you don't have a whole heap of metal to protect you, you are very exposed, so far from being untouchable you are far more likely to get hurt, but that doesn't seem to stop the risks being taken.

Many thanks for that. Got one floored and thrashed after a few attempts. Just need to try and get an allusion MMC floored now. Don’t seem to be having much luck with that, which is why I asked a few days ago

I wouldn’t mind a few more junctions being made bus / cycle only, like Bank. Would solve a lot of problems in one go Agree including making certain sections of road bus & cycle only. The problem with this is that there are perfectly legitimate reason why people needs to use the roads other than cycle and bus.
If you have sections bus / cycle only, how will deliveries be made, how will shops get stocked. How will people get around with bags and so on.
What is needed is a proper plan on how on move around efficiently the legitimate and proper needs of a modern city like London.

I favour restricting deliveries to certain times of day i.e banning them at peak times because deliveries certainly aren't helping the appalling congestion we have

It's nothing new I've proposed though - there are number of places where these types of roads exist and have done so for years either through a timed restriction or a permanent one. In fact, I'm pretty sure some places have exceptions for delivery vehicles to get through. Putney High Street between Putney Bridge Road & Upper Richmond Road is one such place where you limit it to buses & cycles only and then if needs be, allow delivery vehicles in at certain times. Peckham may be an awful place personally but Rye Lane shows what you can do if you remove cars from the high street - the place still thrives and deliveries still get to the shops. I don't see how you can have a proper plan using the current status quo of plonking buses at the bottom and allowing car usage to grow - you either leave buses to continue being unloved and neglected when it comes to priority and their importance or you finally start tackling congestion & pollution together by restricting how many cars are on the road. Why it won't happen is because of the backlash it would provoke but it really does need to happen.
