The previous incarnation 209 went to Edgware between Nov 85 to Nov 87 but it went via the 340 route so didn’t serve Stanmore station except for early Saturday mornings where it terminated there. The lady must be thinking of the 209 as it used to only go to Harrow Weald but with peak extensions to Northwick Park via current H18 route. It got extended to Edgware in 1985 and then renumbered to H12, was single-decked and cut back to Stanmore in 1987. The 209 remained as DD SDO workings of H12 until 1992 when the DD SDO workings were incorporated into the H12 www.londonbuses.co.uk/_routes/withdrawn/209-1.htmlThanks for the information, so it 3as renumbered H12 in 85 or 87? Regarding the 209 this is why I asked if it was the 142 ot another route she was thinking of she made it quite clear she meant the H12. It was renumbered to H12 in 1987, at the same time it was cut to Stanmore. So H12 hasn’t changed terminus at either end since it’s inception.

I have a question, has the H12 ever gone further than Stanmore Station. The reason I ask is I had a elder lady, argue with me for terminating at Stanmore and I was trying to explain to her as far as I am aware the H12 has never gone further than Stanmore and asked her if she was thinking of the 142 or another route. She said no the H12 then I said you must be mistaken as the H12 used to go to Harrow Weald around 30 years ago and then at some point after that it got extended here to Stanmore. She frowned at me and walked off shaking her head telling me I know nothing. Depending on her age, I reckon she's thinking of the 286, or even the 114. Being probably similar in age to her, I recall them both, the 114 with particular affection, when it ran Edgware to Ruislip via Stanmore and Harrow - I don't quite remember it from its Rayners Lane days!

As I said I asked and she was very stern and adamant it was the H12. I hazard a guess by in which the way she was speaking and the way she was glaring at me when I mentioned the 80s. She was talking much more recent years but I couldn't be bothered to entertain her anymore as I wanted to go for my break.

I was actually trying to understand where she was coming from rather than argue. So in this case you can't help them all, lol.

I travelled on the 274 today, not a route I go on that often. With the daytime frequency now reduced to 12 minutes, waits definitely feel noticeably longer. The bus I was on had a live driver changeover which took EIGHT minutes whilst we waited for the new driver to turn up. That sure put a long gap into the already reduced timetable, really rather poor. Surely with today's technology and iBus, it can be arranged for the driver to be ready for the handover at the right time, or am I being unfair?

A very serious crash in Orpington tonight involving a car and two buses. Sadly one person has died. My thoughts go out to those involved and the victims family.

It appears the first oen came on last Tuesday, available on my5. I watched this programme. Although it was quite good, it was spoilt for me by something they said about the Routemaster. According to them, the Routemaster design introduced the hop on, hop off rear platform. Do they not watch their own clips? What about the B, K, S, NS, TD, TC, LS, ST, STL, LT, STD, RT, RTL, RTW, G, B (Bristol), D and possibly others that preceded the Routemaster?

It started of good, but when it went to the cyclist bit, I got bored and fell asleep, I don't even know how the end went. The program wasn't what I was expecting to be honest, 3 out of 10.

As someone who doesn't live in the area can anyone tell me why the 357 has a Sunday extension? I know years back Sunday extensions used to quite common. Looking at it from an outside point of view I can't help but think that either you extend the route the other days of the week or drop the Sunday extension all together.

I haven't seen this posted anywhere else, so apologies if it has already been mentioned.
All London's buses are due to pull over at 11.00 today (Monday 4th November) if it is safe to do so, and switch their engines off for one minute. This is in tribute to driver Kenneth Matcham who was killed in the collision in Orpington on the night of Thursday 31st October.
The tribute is also expected to be observed widely outside London.
