I suspect that CT Plus will now order 3 (perhaps 4) extra double decks as the 388 is being extended to London Bridge, can’t really borrow buses for a contract that has multiple years to run.
Remains a possibility of getting second hand buses, but not sure there is much advantage in acquiring a small number of another type, and not exactly a glut of used euroVI hybrids to TfL spec looking for new owners.

CT Plus could perhaps purchase the 16reg E40H/MMCs from Stagecoach that are said to be going off lease (released from changes to route 53)?

Do they need to be Hybrids? I know the 20 was awarded on this basis but the top up could be diesel buses.

Does need to be hybrid as it enters the ULEZ. The 20 doesn’t enter the ULEZ but it certainly does need hybrids due to it being awarded hybrids for its contract. I should have been more clear. I meant the 388 sorry.

I don’t think CT Plus will take a handful of any type they’ve never dealt with before and which would be very non standard in their fleet. The MMC’s however could very much be a possibility if they return off lease.

I think ex-Stagecoach MMCs (or even someone else's!) are a distinct possibility. The Stagecoach vehicles are the same age as the E400H Citys on the 26 so could be nominally allocated to that route for its frequency increase. This would allow two Citys from the 388 allocation to transfer to the 20 as had been planned.

Wild speculation on my part but here goes :
388 temporally cut back to Liverpool Street should release 2 buses for the 20 until October. Then the 388 is converted to LT and its buses move to the 20 releasing the 19 Reg to the 357 which CT Plus happen to win * cough *

Are the 309 Solo's proving troublesome lately? Noticed 3- 4 E200s on the route yesterday and 4 today. Or is there a surplus of E200s that can be used in preference to the Solo's?

Stagecoach may wish to keep any ex-53 MMCs no longer required on the 53 for a cheeky bid for the 212.

One E200 MMC is part of the official 309 allocation. The rest could be a preference for using newer vehicles wherever possible.
