Are the 309 Solo's proving troublesome lately? Noticed 3- 4 E200s on the route yesterday and 4 today. Or is there a surplus of E200s that can be used in preference to the Solo's? One E200 MMC is part of the official 309 allocation. The rest could be a preference for using newer vehicles wherever possible. I think your both right - there's definitely one MMC part of the allocation but I've been noticing over the last few months a few of the batch missing for a while.

It depends if a) CT Plus can get their hands on any of the PD G3’s about to go off least or b) any of those 53 MMCs going to go off lease too. Stagecoach may wish to keep any ex-53 MMCs no longer required on the 53 for a cheeky bid for the 212. I have a feeling more City’s will be ordered for Route 388 and 20.

I can’t believe what’s just happened! I’m on the N551 at the moment and my bus driver just got flashed by a speed camera!! never had that happen to me before. Are there stiff implications in place for either the company or the driver for that happening? He was absolutely caning it as well like most night routes do. Nope it was a 30mph speed camera somewhere in Beckton. Anyway it’s the N550 that goes to the Isle of Dogs, the N551 doesn’t As far as I am aware there are no cameras on the N551 route between Beckton and Canning Town but could be wrong. Could the bus have been flashed by a car? I knew I wasn’t going crazy!! This is the speed camera that caught my Trafalgar Square-bound N551 back in January. This was taken from a North Woolwich-bound 473, so in the opposite direction to which my N551 was travelling, which meant it was definitely my N551 that got caught. It’s located at Mortlake Road and Tree Road bus stops (like I said it was before) on the 147, 300, 473 and N551 routes. I went wrong by saying it was on the 262 route rather than the 473 route and said it was around the Beckon area, rather than the Prince Regent area which lead to the confusion of thinking it was the wrong camera (forgive me it was at night so hard to know where you are! ). But at least I knew I wasn’t making it up now!! Definitely my N551 that got caught speeding Attachment Deleted

That camera is facing towards the A13 and the N551 towards Trafalgar Sq travels the opposite way. I can assure you 100% that camera only catches cars in one direction. I live in the area and pass this road almost daily.

But at least I knew I wasn’t making it up now!! Definitely my N551 that got caught speeding As @dannyb has already said it can't be that one due to the direction its facing, facing towards the Beckton direction as opposed to the TSQ direction. Easy mistake though, you'd naturally assume that the N551 into town would head that way but it effectively goes back on itself to get to Prince Regent before entering Canning Town through the back.

Yes you’re right, time for me to eat humble pie I got confused because weirdly the N551 runs in the opposite direction towards Beckton to what the 300 does, a bit like the 137 and 159 both ran to Streatham but in opposite directions when both used to run along Oxford Street. At least that solves the mystery at last

There are a few routes in the Canning Town, Custom House and Beckton area that go in the "wrong" direction / Long way around to reach destinations including the 241,300 and 376 and of course the N551.

Which will no doubt prove interesting when the 300 is effectively turned inside out in the area, will certainly catch a lot of people out. Might actually be one of the situations where a complete renumbering would be worthwhile.

Indeed - I remember thinking that when the original consultation came out - The route will be very different to the current routing. Also passengers used to the 241 in Freemasons Road will need to board a bus in the opposite direction to Canning Town.

Anyway on another topic but still CT Plus related I had my first ride on one of the new 19-reg Cities on the 20 today, and I’m struggling to think of a batch of buses I like more than I now do those, they’re exceptional!! They’re actually a lot better than the slightly older models on the 26 and 388. Firstly the engines on the new ones actually sound a lot better and more interesting, they also seriously shift (not that the old ones didn’t) and the interior on these new ones is actually quite a bit different and looks so much better. E.g. the panels around the top-deck iBus screen on the older models were cream with a burgundy strip but on the 19-regs the whole front of the bus upstairs is burgundy and it looks amazing easily the best interior ever fitted to any bus. Hope we get loads more Cities this revised interior, it’s actually a shame Metroline is having their own interior fitted to their ones

New Map
Have to agree about the Metroline interior of the City, looks awful.

Recent changes to the 812 don't seem to have been reported yet.
The introduction of the ULEZ has seen the 12-registered Volkswagen Tucanas replaced by 67-registered versions which have been redeployed from special needs transport. The new(er) vehicles are in white livery with a branch-and-leaf motif along the sides, an carry prominent route branding for the 812. The buses meet the EuroVI emissions standard but as the 812 is not a TfL route they do not need to be hybrid, electric or hydrogen.
The timetable has changed, with the first bus commencing at Skinner Street (Exmouth Market) southbound at 09.14, and the first two departures from Hoxton (Bridport Place) at 09.30 and 10.10, these journeys now being given 66 minutes to complete the circuit due to traffic conditions. From 10.50 onwards the timetable is the same (xx.20 and xx.50 minutes past each hour) and 57 minutes are allowed for a complete circuit. Last round trip departs Hoxton at 15.50.
A reminder that the route is free to holders of Freedom Passes, ENCTS Passes, 60+ OysterCards and anyone under 16. For other passengers there is a cash fare of £1 per journey. The route runs Mondays to Fridays only.

Why has one of the brand new vehicles for the 20 transferred to HK?

Why has one of the brand new vehicles for the 20 transferred to HK? Probably to sub the SD that was on 388 so CTP don't get fined.
