I think it’s safe to say TT won’t be retaining the 13 on its next renewal. I don’t even think TfL will be able to let them bid for it again with how shambolic their performance is. I mean look at this, anyone would have thought this was a first day operation, not two and a half years in!!! Anyway back to RATP, I guess this is mildly related given TT took the route from them (in number terms only lol) The 28 is the same too. Do you experience a lot of 28 drivers leaving the stand whenever they want? I've found myself waiting at the 28's first stop before, and countdown has been completely unreliable on stating when the next 28 is due

The 28 serves a number of traffic hotspots so would be difficult for any operator to run. That's fair enough, I'll be honest I don't use the route often so was just basing my claim on Curtailments I see either on LVF or in person, even late at night it's very common to get a bus turned to Lillie road.

So I’m ferrel because I do use the upstairs, usually a seat at the front? Certainly not by a long run everyone that goes upstairs is ferrel ... but most those that are head up that way! Sorry mate but these comments are just not the case. Being both a minor and someone who travels on buses in the rush hour (often on the upper deck) I would prefer to say that 95% of people are respectable towards others and certainly not "ferrel" There are certainly more relevant topics applicable to this thread and the forum as a whole.

Its a difficult one. Its a shame when good performance isn't rewarded/incentvised enough, but on the flip side, the incumbent's performance stifles competition. I think that with poorly performing routes, TfL should be able to penalise the operator to encourage them to improve. This way, the operator can still bid for the route next time it comes up for tender but they have a greater incentive to operate the route well. TfL do penalise the operator and performance is incentivised. It's called a Quality Incentive Contract! TfL pay bonuses to operators for good performance, and fine them for bad performance, so there is always the incentive to put extra running time onto badly performing routes. However on an ultra high frequency route like the 13 (seeing as it runs every 6 minutes), one extra bus may not make much difference in terms of running time, as one extra bus would only provide a headway's worth of extra time to a rounder (in this case 6 minutes for a rounder). I'm not sure in this case that 3 minutes extra for a trip (assuming this extra time is split evenly over both trips) would make much difference, so the route may require 2, 3 or 4 additional buses. When you take into account the cost of the buses themselves, then the cost of paying more people to drive them, it would often be cheaper to simply take the hit with the fines rather than improve the reliability.

Feral, everyone 😛 and my experience is such passengers wouldn’t go away with single decks, they will just go and sit at the back of the bus and irritate everyone.

I hope that when the 395 moves to RATP that a certain bus driver doesn’t go with the 395 to RATP because unlike the other drivers that are very fast there is this one driver that is very slow. So slow that people have to over take him.

I may have just made this up but I seem to recall that an employee at S (not sure of his job title but he wasn't a driver) told me that FW's LTs came to S so S could address their reliability issues. Is this true or have I just made it up?

I’m not surprised RATP lost the 267. Just looking at their duties MF Schooldays, Duty 201 has a remarkably easy time of it,
One rounder , then dead back to Hammersmith, then back in service to FW for break (0500-0838)
Second half , two rounders.
I think Abellio will reduce the amount of duties somewhat. As a contrast their first duty on the C3 MF is out for just over 5 hours ( with culmination of breaks amounting to just less than an hour)

I'm surprised Abellio didn't manage to get the PVR down though.
