I rode the new 136 extension today, It was certainly busy loading and unloading at every stop. Over the course of time the new link will become well established and eases the pressure on the 343.

I think you're partly right. I think what will happen is that in time both routes will fill up to capacity. I suspect there is a lot of suppressed demand and once people know they've got the new service and where it goes they'll use it. I'm certainly interested to see what the peak loadings on the 136 are like as I expect the regulars in North Peckham will have known within 2-3 days that they've got a new bus route. I suspect it's the Lewisham - Elephant and cross Peckham and cross Lewisham links that will generate the new traffic on the 136 and cause it to fill up in time.

How long do we have to wait for figures to be released on loadings and lost mileage etc etc? You won't see loadings info for May 2014 until December 2015 given TfL have only committed to publish patronage numbers on an annual basis for their financial years which run April to March. We're currently in 2014/15 financial year and that doesn't end until March 2015 and it seems it takes them 7 months to collate the detailed info for release. I really hope they will speed things up but I'm not going to hold my breath. The EWT / lost mileage stats are published quarterly so we're in Q1 2014/15 so I imagine the stats will appear sometime in Q2 - probably August or September. You will only get a small snapshot for the 136 post extension to Elephant in Q1 data. It will probably take until Q3 until you can see any sort of trend or effect in the data as a result of the extension. Didn't realise it would be that long!!! best be patient!!!

Looks like I was wrong. Just looking on the TfL website shows that TfL have published the Q4 performance data *and* have included the 2013/14 patronage and km numbers. Spreadsheet link - look down the page for the bus usage data. I'm updating my mega data spreadsheet to include the latest numbers.
