Most obscure , under used , hidden away or otherwise interesting bus stands.
Hammersmith Brook Green must be large enough for 6 buses yet it is never used.
Syon Lane is accessed via a bus only slip road off the A4
Hanworth Fir Road (Swan) hidden in an estate off the line of route (111)

Hammersmith Grove/Glenthorne Road, Hammersmith: now only used by rail replacement buses but used to be for most of the routes in the lower bus station.
Three bus stands in Norwood Green: Tentelow Lane, Norwood Green Road, and Norwood Road! Only the last one is right on a bus route (the 120) and has road markings so you don't get other vehicles parked there. However, all are close to schools so useful for any coaches.
Southall Park: Curtailment point for the 207/427/607 and mostly used when The Broadway is closed due to events.
Savage Gardens, Beckton: Old route 366 stand
Canning Town, East India Dock Road slip road: Used for rail replacement buses.

Gloucester Road (by Markhouse Corner) used for curtailed 58s and 158s (stand is painted on road)
Enfield Lock Station (Bradley Road) bus stand flag but no actual box.
Walthamstow, Beacontree Avenue (used by curtailed 123 and 275, though latter is off route). Also seen a 20 parked there too!

Syon Lane is accessed via a bus only slip road off the A4 Hanworth Fir Road (Swan) hidden in an estate off the line of route (111) Brook Green is an overflow from Hammersmith Bus Station and I think buses used to go there for relief etc before the Lower Bus Station opened. It is still used for District Line replacements. Tooting Bec Gardens has a stand on both sides (unless one removed) but you cannot exit left into Trinity Road as the junction is too tight. If a 155/355 uses it it has to enter from Trinity Road and exit to Balham High Road therefore completely missing Tooting Bec on return. In practice 155's generally use Balham when disruption is bad. 219 can use it the other way to go back towards Clapham Junction, but with the position on the route I don't think they are ever turned there really.

Downham, Shroffold Road - Turn for Routes 124 & 284, rarely used
Downham - Turn for 336 rarely used
Downham, Bromley Road - Turn for 136, 181, 208 & 320 - Used quite often by 136, 181 & 320, very rarely used by 208
Grove Park Cemetery - Stand and bus stop for the 284, very quiet place

Ambleside Avenue stand - no actual flagpole but the road markings are still there, was only created as a temporary stand for the 133 when it had to be diverted away from the normal St. Leonard's Church.
Not there anymore but Grecian Crescent at Crown Point, Upper Norwood - probably was the most secluded bus stand ever, hidden next to a tall tree. Buses never used it as cars were always parked there so buses stood on Grecian Crescent next to Beulah Hill. Years later, the stand was moved to where the buses actually parked and now, the stand is next to the northbound stop on Beulah Hill.

Ron Leighton Way, East Ham: Fully signed and marked but not used, even has a mini roundabout just after with acres of room around it to help turn around! Facing northbound, and no bus route uses that road in that direction, unless there is a diversion away from High Street North like there was last month for a few days. In that case buses were using the stand as if it was a normal bus stop

I believe sw11simon is referring to upper tooting park, which is just off balham high road near tooting bec. I actually had a brief look when I went past there while running light from clapham only a few days ago and I saw two bus stands but both on the same side (heading towards trinity road). I know there was a bus stand in myton road, west norwood for the 322. Not sure if its still there. I wonder if that stand in east dulwich is still there also. I think theres also a bus stand in addiscombe somewhere for the 289 when it turns to ashburton park. But I can't remember exactly where it is You also got a bus stand in silverthorne road near QB garage, and a stand in carshalton wrythe green. I only used it a few times when I had a turn there on the 157

I know of 2 that I have no idea why they are there
1st
Just after Angel Corner, Edmonton heading North, there is a road, unsure of the name but there is a capital restuarant in the corner with a flagpole, but this road has a low bridge so could only be used by a single decker, never ever seen a bus there
2nd
Off Bounces Road, Edmonton, in Exeter Road there is a flagpole, no idea why it's there as it's a residential road with not much road width!

Lewisham, Jerrard Street - mostly for routes 47 and 225 and other routes but is rarely used. I was on the spare rota at NX for almost a year and got that turn twice on the 436 and never on the 21.

Westbourne Terrace, the section of road heading towards Bishops Bridge after Craven Road, got road markings and flags that are hooded as not in use.
Molesworth Street going towards Lewisham Station, I do believe these are used if Lewisham High Street is closed.
Elgin Avenue, only used by the 36, quite a used stand if there are road works or diversions along the line of route and in the rush hour peaks.
The Crown at Bromley Common although I think it has got alot smaller or gone completely since the 208 stopped using it as a terminus. (I haven't been along there since the building has finished of all those new houses/ flats so I stand corrected).

Some from me : Darley Drive (side road by Coombe Girls school) for 213 (does any 213 terminate in Clarence Ave area?), google street maps has a bus rear blinded for 151 in there DOE54Queens Road, Richmond by Marshgate Primary school, this is a full turning loop and stand just off junction of Sheen Road and Manor Road, occasionally used by late running 337s Kew Green, the road to the left at end of Kew Bridge (but would need to loop other way round as it faces other way), never seen it in use and can't ever remember a 65 or 391 to Kew Green

Some from me : Darley Drive (side road by Coombe Girls school) for 213 (does any 213 terminate in Clarence Ave area?), google street maps has a bus rear blinded for 151 in there DOE54Queens Road, Richmond by Marshgate Primary school, this is a full turning loop and stand just off junction of Sheen Road and Manor Road, occasionally used by late running 337s Kew Green, the road to the left at end of Kew Bridge (but would need to loop other way round as it faces other way), never seen it in use and can't ever remember a 65 or 391 to Kew Green I remember Kew green was always used for LT publicity photos. Remember as a kid the summer extension of the 15 used to turn there.
