I really think TFL should introduce a new night service to central London from Kingston or an extension of the 85 or 57 maybe. The N87 is always rammed and it would be great if we could have another service to help out this uncomfortable stressful cattle truck. I suggested in a previous thread that the N14 should be extended to Kingston and I got shot down in flames for having the audacity to make such a suggestion!!

Seems no reason the N14 and N85 couldn't be merged - run the current N14 frequencies to Putney, and then a 30-min service to Kingston (as is done with routes like the N8, N9, N29)

In terms of the the numbering of these weekend routes, I think snoggle 's idea will be used. You will have a little note at the bottom of the bus number plate saying '24 hours on weekends' or 'weekend 24'. It would be better as well if that wording was on a blue background so you have the top 2/3 of the number plate white, saying 123, and the bottom 1/3 blue saying '24 hours on weekends'. They cannot have a separate plate saying N123, as you may need a bigger bus stop board, you will definitely need new bus blinds and it will be confusing to be at a bus stop where there is a N73 and N123 for example, with one running 7 nights and the other not. Also in the consultation they have not used N's. It would be lovely to see the Night Bus "Owl and Moon"Night Bus "Owl and Moon" revived for the signage but I doubt it will happen. If I remember correctly, the bus tiles were blue with the route number in yellow. I think night buses had the same colour scheme for the blinds, but cannot remember. I was a young boy and only saw the n243!

I agree, I would've thought a night service over the 422 would have been a better option than 486. The 486 route is already served by night buses apart from the Queen Elizabeth Hosp on Woolwich Common and Charlton Church Lane, which is served by night buses - 53 and 472/N1 at either end. Yes it is the quickest way to Bexleyheath, but the 132 doesn't take much longer. The 132 will share half of its night route between Eltham and Bexleyheath with the N21, but I'm not sure of the demand there.
The 422 serves a large area otherwise uncovered by night bus - practically everywhere between Plumstead and Bexleyheath. This area also has quite well populated so I'm suprised this wasnt taken into account. Me living in the middle of this area at Upper Belvedere, my only option at the moment is the N1 at Abbey Wood and thats a 25 minute walk from my house.

I was a young boy and only saw the n243! Yes, they were very pretty when viewed in daylight. At night, however, under certain lighting conditions they were very hard to read. The people who devised the colour scheme were very proud of their whizzy idea, but by the time it was pointed out, all the adhesive bus stop tiles had been printed!

I suggested in a previous thread that the N14 should be extended to Kingston and I got shot down in flames for having the audacity to make such a suggestion!! I suggested it as well. TFL really need to see that they can not put all the work on just one route providing a direct link to Central London from Kingston. It was easier until 2006 because the N77 as well as the N22 provided a link to the West End, making it easier to pick which bus you wanted and not having to worry about the reliability issues of changing bus in Kingston and having to wait ages for the 281 when the link could be reinstated and there would be no problems for people who might feel scared walking through Kingston at night to get to Tolworth from Fairfield.

Seems no one took / it was decided not to publish a specific photo of a bus stop with the Owl and Moon tiles. I used to have a Night Bus timetable book from back in the 1980s but I've no idea where it might be now. I wasn't aware that the yellow and dark blue colouring hadn't worked (see post above). I know TfL are not keen on specifically marketing the bus network but I think something will have to be done, other than just "Fri/Sat Nights" being stuck under the route number on stop flags.

Please people leave my night bus N199 alone. It is my local night bus. I like the idea. I glad TfL put route 47 become 24 hours service between Shoreditch and Catford garage. It def need help out on weekend service between London Bridge and Canada Water and leave my Night bus N199 to carry on without further delay or trouble. However i won't mind for just fews mins add also if i am out in Greenwich and would happy to grab one bus to home rather than walk down to catch N89 to Lewisham then change to N47.
The question is, will TfL awake of good timetable and not leave too long gap between night bus and daytime route?

The current situation with passengers having to change buses in Putney with no guaranteed connection is ridiculous.

Edgware seems to have been forgotten. Missed opportunities for a weekend extension of the 140 to Edgware, night service on 251 which would have linked 4 night tube stations on three different sections of lines. Have raised that with TfL via consultation links. I had thought about the 251 but I think the basic problem is that the fast bit in the middle is lightly populated so there's not a lot of demand at night. There are proposals with the 34, 114 and the N113 that cover most of the populated bits at each end of the 251 route. I just really don't think the demand would be there, in spite of how handy the link looks on paper. Mid-evening buses often run between Mill Hill and Whetstone without stopping, carrying little more than fresh air. That part of the world is very much 'call a cab' during antisocial hours. I think the idea of an all night 221 would be better received - it is a safe pair of hands as one of the 'new year' regulars and seems to load well for it and it does link into the three lines the 251 does, albeit at alternative points east of Edgware. It doesn't link as tidily into the High Barnet branch of the Northern line though (West Finchley being a short walk down Nether Street).
