It's the last part of that sentence that's important snoggle. A vast number of people who consume food on a bus don't bother to take their litter home with them. An empty crisp packet or empty sandwich packet might not smell but the leftover chicken bones certainly do! At the moment, I'm doing late R7s and it's not unusual to have people bringing hot food on. The bringing of hot food onto the bus doesn't bother me (apart from making me hungry, especially if it's hot chips! Mmmmmm) but the leaving behind of leftovers certainly does bother me. And when I've pointed out to someone they've left something behind I'm met with either blank stares or abuse Should hot food be banned on buses? On balance, since people do seem strangely reluctant to take their rubbish away with them, I say yes it should. I have no problem with snoggle eating a sandwich or a packet of crisps though Some people have this stubborn thing where they deliberatly leave litter as "It keeps someone in a job", I don't think that gives anyone a reason to litter. If you use it dispose it, not leave it for the Bus Cleaners. I've seen All types of crap, Banana Peelings (Dangerous slipping hazard), Chicken Bones on Seats, smashed vodka bottles, crisp packets, bottles, newspaper. Some people also think its OK to Fart on buses, which is foul. I dont think anyone litters because they care about cleaners (unless their parents are!!). They litter because they are lazy, dont care, its not cool to be seen putting something in the bin and frankly they can, because what is stopping them? Who does anything about it? There should be an ibus message encouraging people to take their litter with them. There is a stupid message telling parents to stay with their baby for some crazy reason. Banning food would be impossible to do, just look at the alcohol ban, people get away with it, some use their Master degree to put the can in a black bag. TfL could come down hard on it, by removing free travel from young people for example, but they wont. Although it is not just young people. I saw an adult set a bad example to their young kid by littering. The kid then littered after him. I wanted to confront him but he was big and I did not want him to litter my body pieces all over the bus. I cant remember the quote, but the cleaner from the Routemasters Running Londons Road sums up littering pretty well.

Who doesn't like the smell of chicken? Are you sure it was the chicken he was complaining about?

You'll be surprised how people decide to not to guard their kid, be on the bus or in a shop and that same kid wander off.

There is a stupid message telling parents to stay with their baby for some crazy reason Some parents park a buggy - with child in it - and go and sit down. When said buggy tips over because it's overloaded with shopping bags guess whose fault it is? That's why that message is there. That said, I've never used it because it sounds far too 'preachy' for my liking. A driver is just as likely to get grief from some passengers for playing the message!

A young adult female attempted to board a 226 bus at Dollis Hill Station stop last night. She was carrying a bag containing a closed box of fried chicken. The driver refused to allow her on the bus because he "couldn't stand the smell" and other passengers would be complaining. I was behind her and she was almost in tears as she turned around to get off the bus. Very unreasonable, especially at 10:30 at night. Well done to the driver, smoking is rightly banned so why should passengers have to put up with the stench of takeaways and the resultant mess? It was the girl who was being very unreasonable IMHO!

I've seen All types of crap, Banana Peelings (Dangerous slipping hazard), Chicken Bones on Seats, smashed vodka bottles, crisp packets, bottles, newspaper. +1. I fully support the driver. Some people are disgusting. What kind of person thinks its ok to leave a fried chicken box and some of its contents spilled over the floor and seats? Unfortunately this particular example seems to be quite common now. The other day I witnessed orange coloured sauce smeared on the cove panel on the top deck of a bus. How did it get up there? Then there are the smaller items which are also annoying like bottles, cans and crisp packets stuffed between seats or left to roll around on the floor as the bus moves. What about spilt fizzy drinks which leaves a very sticky residue on the floor - not nice if you accidentally stand on it. I blame poor parenting! I was taught not to litter as a kid and so I don't as an adult. It wouldn't even enter my mind to casually leave something stuffed down side of the seats or on the floor. I can bet you that these very people who feel it is acceptable to litter would be the first to scream obscenities if you chucked a fried chicken box into their front garden. "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you..." springs to mind. Singapore have it right. Large fines for anyone who litters. Don't get me started on chewing gum splodges, cigarette butts and spitting.

We don't have Morley's north of the River, so I doubt the 'Kansas Fried Chicken' or other crappy knockoff tasted any better There is a solitary outpost of Morley's north of the river.. the outcast. It is in Highams Park. Don't get me started on Morleys, there are like 7 in-between Lewisham, Catford, Bellingham Downham, 2 in Lewisham, 3 in Catford, 2 in Bellingham & 1 in Downham all like a short trip within each other

Lol I agree fully these people would not like anyone littering in their own homes, but they do it outside daily, or on public transport... I've come across things like spilled drinks on seats, the worst thing is to sit on it! If people chew chewing gum they should keep the paper it came in and dispose of it that way into a bin instead of sticking it under a seat, I remember in school people used to stick them under tables, Yuck... Regarding Cigarette Butts, Smoking should be 100% Illegal in my eyes, Second Hand Smoke is breathable Litter and should not be allowed anywhere, Spitting on the roads is not nice, but I think it is OK for people to spit in bins, or in tissues then thrown into a bin.

Good on that driver.
Hot food should be banned on buses.
The amount of rubbish and dirt these animals cause on the bus eating their food is amazing.
I say animal because only animals would spill drink and eat chicken and chuck the dirty used bones with all their disgusting silva over seats and the floors where potentially small children could touch it.

Who doesn't like the smell of chicken? When you drive a bus, you soon get fed up with it! Greasy chicken bones are also a safety hazard.

Speaking of litter, just today on a 57 on the upper deck, there was a large cup of latte spilt on the whole right side of the bus, stairs to the back seats.

All hot food should be banned on buses just like it is in taxis.

All hot food should be banned on buses just like it is in taxis. Surely not if it's closed and is being consumed away from the bus later on?
