I have constantly seen this take place regularly on the 168 more than any other bus since the introduction of the LT. Perhaps TfL will make all buses (LT or not) "board and alight by any door" to avoid confusion and to "speed up boarding times" lol Do that on the W6... drivers tell you to get on the back it's so full!

I see your points but could the same not be said about most buses? The ALX400 was perfectly OK, so does that mean the Enviro400 was pointless? Let's face it - by 2006 it was a dated design. I actually do like the bus itself, even though I think the original MMC looks a better. The roundels on the moquette are quite cute, makes it look nicer than the one on the New Routemasters. (Though maroon and grey is so 1990s.) Can't beat blue Arriva squares and white poles, though. What I dislike the most what the signs this bus brings towards a more boring bus network in London. It has subsequently been reported that CT Plus will be obtaining a batch for route 26. I share your concern that we may be heading towards a TfL standardised fleet without operators being able to specify their own interiors anymore. This would eventually rob operators like Metroline of their own character.

According to the latest buses magazine wrightbus and tfl are working on a new borris master to rival the E400H City but it will be on the Volvo b5lh chassis. So I am guessing it will have similar styling to the current borris master sans the extra staircase and triple doors.
I quote 'while Alexander Dennis wants to recoup its investment in the city moddel by selling as many as possible with its own chassis, customer choice may dictate otherwise' (due the increasing amount of orders for the B5LH even stagecoach are ordering it) that part isn't fully quoted but some essentially that is what the article was stating earlier on. Now back to the rest of the quote 'London operators should not have long to wait before having the option to buy something in similar vein (to the E400H City) on the B5LH chassis, as Wrightbus has been working with TFL on project to adapt the New Routemaster body to fit on to the volvo chassis. A prototype could be revealed before the end of the year.' 'It seems a fair guess that this will have a similar internal layout to the Enviro400H City, with one forward staircase, a front entrance and centre exit.'

Am I right in thinking the E400 city's have only been ordered by Arriva for route 78 so far?

I had my first ride on one yesterday (HA3) and I was very impressed, I loved the interior and I would be quite happy to see that as the standard spec for all new buses

The only interior I'd ever have rolled out across London is 1980's LT interior - the one on the City & LT don't do it for me personally.

I'd love a ride on LT806 That's supposed to be the first prototype of this unique B5LH It still has 3 doors but is slightly shorter.

Perhaps Arriva were referring to the longitudinal length of the upper and lower decks inside rather than the overall length, either that or it's a monumental mistake

They could be referring to the new short New Routemaster bus. Which is still apart of the New Routemaster range.
