That is until Westfield emerges from the ashes of the Whitgift Centre.... I've always found Bromley very anti public transport. (Totally strayed off thread subject) It's because it's very middle to upper classed, most of the residents have cars. They don't want peasants from rough areas going into their Waitrose. Then they should move out of London - I bet they're the same ones who class themselves as in Kent!

If I remember rightly the 726 (to serve Heathrow) was a diversion of part of the 725 which for many years ran from Gravesend to Windsor. Along with most Green Line routes it was curtailed at the ends partly due to staff shortages but mainly because increasing traffic made timekeeping impossible. Correct. 725 was diverted via Bexleyheath at the same time. 726 initially ran directly from Crayford to Bexley via Bourne Road. Now there's a link I'd like to see back, but that's for another thread... Back to 465 : another one here who'd like the chance of a spin on the route in a Citaro K...

A vast majority of them do. I'm not so sure about that, anyway this thread is about the 465 which of course goes nowhere near Bromley. There's a lot of history and politics when it comes to Bromley. It goes back to the old days of the GLC when in 1981 they reduced fares (bus and tube) by about 30% to encourage public transport usage. It was Bromley council that challenged the legality of reducing fares in the Courts, part of their argument as I recollect was that the Tube did not serve Bromley so they (Bromley) should not be forced to pay extra for the reduced fair policy. Bromley won, fares doubled, services were cut in 1982 and the rest is history. Bromley has never been particularly pro public transport as far back as I can remember.

I'm aware of that and the infamous cuts in services on September 4th 1982 but the residents of Bromley cannot all be tarred with the same brush.

Given that was 35 years ago, one would have hoped that the prevailing attitude would have changed. Alas it doesnt seem much to have, given the positions the council seem to take in some transport consultations.

The point I was trying to make is that for many years Bromley have not been the most pro public transport council, and not much seems to have changed. Indeed it is a long time ago, and I certainly don't want to tar all residents this way, but nevertheless there are still 'some' who still appear to have similar type views.

I work at bromley south station thank you lol😃.
I deal with all sorts and can be a laugh.
Ok i dont want 465 to be cut back to leatherhead. Very nice ride in the surrey hills.
Like the mix of bus routes that you can in the tfl network.
I used like to ride on buses all day back in my younger days.
Going from say like epsom to central london in same day. This was between 2001 to 2007.
Probably take too long now in a day now☺

Ok i dont want 465 to be cut back to leatherhead. Don't worry it won't be - if you followed through the thread you'd have found out Surrey Council agreed to carry on funding it
