Bad news or no longer links to the bus maps online?
I click on Central, South East, South West, North West and North East which is shown as:
404 Not Found
Code: NoSuchKey Message: The specified key does not exist. Key: bus-route-maps/central-london-bus-map.pdf (same as other bus maps as well) RequestId: AB6B00472895AB2E HostId: JFFAhrQ9XMlCcPpccvF1B7weBM40+1CP3JtcooyLzMPtihLykImkby1hMGzx3t5EDf8FyyLhQfs=
I am hoping that TfL need to bring new bus maps back soon online.

I've tweeted TfL who have said it's an IT fault. A fault has been raised with the IT department to get access to the maps restored.

The menu entries and urls for the "old style" bus maps have now vanished completely on the Buses Maps page on the website.
I have gone back to TfL to Twitter asking for an update as to what the heck is going on. Mayor's Question number 2 is looming as is the rebuke to the pathetic answer they provided last time which has now been contradicted by the withdrawal of the digital maps (whether temporarily or permanently).

So it appears that the quadrant maps have been replaced by an enhanced London-wide integration with Google maps. This is long overdue and potentially a great idea, even if the execution seems a little way off being final. Is this new or have I just missed this development? Anyhow, the map can be accessed here via the "View Map" or "Nearby " options: tfl.gov.uk/maps/bus?intcmp=40401 Through the new map I have been able to; •Zoom in to an area to see the actual location of bus stops •View real time bus arrivals by clicking on the bus stop •Add the stop to my favourites by clicking on the ⭐️ It's a step in the right direction over quadrant maps and seems to build on their previous local next bus service, but I would like to see the following improvements; 1. Better highlighting of routes - clicking on a bus stop seems to switch on highlighting of route mapping for all buses serving that stop. Brilliant idea - however the route numbers are not clear. Clicking on a bus stop with multiple bus routes serving it leads to a mass of undistinguished red lines over your map. It would be great if the route numbers were written along the red lines at convenient intervals and in a large enough font. 2. Integration into journey planner - I would like to see TfL add a feature to plan a journey. This could highlight bus/train/tram routes and interchange points on the map in real or projected times. 3. Bus stop information integration with LVF for bus enthus....ok maybe not this 🤣 On a separate note I would like to see TfL add this type of map to bus stops as a touch screen display, but that is a different conversation altogether. Overall verdict - exciting, with potential for useful improvements to display and functionality.

It is not the same as a proper bus map and never will be. You cannot assimilate information in the same way. I know I probably have a minority view on this but the Google Map functionality really does not work for me if I want to see an entire route or multiple routes in an area. I also dislike the move away from traditional to electronic maps more generally. They very rarely work well as there are far too many compromises on presentation of information. Also I've lost count of how many people rely on gps tracking and maps on their smartphones who end up getting off buses in entirely the wrong place and looking lost and bewildered - saw it at Waterworks Corner on Saturday afternoon.

Being able to view 6 square inches on a computer screen at a time is not the same as unfolding an A2 map. Its not a substitute; I don't understand why people even think it is. Just because they are both maps does not mean the maps are the same...

Its absolutely not exciting. Its viewing the TfL world one clutch of bus routes at a time, through a peep hole. Its embarrassing that someone, somewhere, thinks this is good enough for the public and potential passengers.
Edit:
Oooh I've just noticed another thing. Can't see any information whatsoever for non TfL bus routes. Not the stops they serve, not the routes they operate, certainly not the timetables. Oh dear!

This is terrible. The old maps were so handy, for instance when I needed to get home from Tattenham Corner near Epsom and there was an hour wait for a train, I was able to see that the nearest London bus stop was only a mile or so walk away to get to Croydon.

One comment. Yay for Mike Harris. That is all. Second that, I recently picked up his new map and it such a handy thing to have even if you don't require it often

It looks like we have been mentioned on Diamond Geezer.... linkBeing slightly unkind (not to you!) it's more than a mention. You could create a fair chunk of DG's article from what has been discussed on this Forum if you were so minded.

Not that its a bad thing though; indeed the more attention brought to the issue the more there might be a useful conclusion to it.

Forum Members may be interested in the following. Someone, not me, used FOI to get hold of the full set of pdf for the quadrant and Central London bus maps. These include the front maps, local town centre maps (normally deleted) and reverse service listings. These date back to March 2016 so a little bit out of date but as a historical record invaluable. tfl.gov.uk/corporate/transparency/freedom-of-information/foi-request-detail?referenceId=FOI-1037-1718 is the link where there are 4 sets of Zip files with the relevant pdfs contained therein. Everything's there so help yourselves!
