I would say you had a lucky escape too! I really wouldn't be putting a referendum on GLA membership to the people of Bromley - there is a realistic chance the people would vote to leave... I'd bet that Bromley Town, Bromley Common, Bickley, Chislehurst, Elmstead, Sundridge, Shortlands, Park Langley, Beckenham, Eden Park, Hayes, Coney Hall, Keston, Leaves Green, Biggin Hill, Downe, Cudham, Hazlewood, Pratts Bottom, Green Street Green, Farnborough, Locksbottom, Southborough, Petts Wood, Crofton and some of Orpington would vote to leave. Which leaves a quarter of Crystal Palace, Anerley, Penge, small parts of Sydenham, half of Mottingham, the Ramsden Estate side of Orpington, St Mary Cray and St Paul's Cray that would want to stay. The Only Way Is Kent 🙁 I reckon all of Crystal Palace, Anerley, Penge & Sydenham would stay given they are Inner London and have far more in common with neighbouring boroughs like Lambeth, Southwark & Lewisham which would certainly all vote to stay within the GLA.

I agree, when I said small parts of Crystal Palace, Sydenham and Mottingham I meant because they aren't only in Bromley.

Digging up this old thread from many years ago, but this topic seems to have come up again www.standard.co.uk/news/london/andrew-rosindell-havering-sadiq-khan-romford-independence-mayor-london-city-hall-mp-b1147107.htmlAfter being missing for many months, Andrew Rosindell has finally reappeared with a PMQ which was then wasted by asking Sunak whether people should vote for Susan Hall (why on earth would he say no?). He also mentioned Havering being more of a 'traditional' borough that should have more independence from City Hall. I imagine he finally woke up and realised that Labour are leading the polls in Romford and had to do something about it. Khan obviously has hit back by mentioning he's unsure what a 'traditional' borough actually is. The other MPs from Havering haven't commented but I'd certainly be interested to see if Jon Cruddas can back up the points raised by Rosindell.

Many of the outer boroughs has parts of them nothing like the rest of greater London. The only thing would be red buses and various London Borough council signage.
