IT'S OPEN !!!!!!!In a move that caught everyone by surprise - not least of all staff at the Elizabeth Line stations who suddenly found themselves faced with the prospect of actually dealing with passengers - TfL quietly opened the ticket barriers at all the stations between Paddington and Abbey Wood at 06.00 this morning. Said Pilar Lofo, the charismatic Spanish Spokesperson of the All-Purpose Rail Information Liaison - Feeds Out Of London service, "We are delighted to find that our trial running of late has gone much better than expected, so much better in fact that we decided we were in a position to open to the travelling public this morning. Londoners will now gain the benefits of this new, efficient line which will be a game-changer for our capital city". Security Guard Fola Rpoli of Abbey Wood, travelling to work in The City this morning, was surprised and delighted to be amongst the first fare-paying passengers to try out the new service: "I arrived at Abbey Wood Station just after six this morning to find that the Elizabeth Line was open and taking passengers. Man, this will really change my journeys to work. These trains, they are so fast, so smooth. In fact I rode all the way to Paddington and back to Liverpool Street as I didn't want to be too early for work!" Although the Elizabeth Line opened quietly without fanfare this morning, TfL is planning an official press launch at 12 noon today, at the new Bond Street Elizabeth Line Station. This will be open to the public, and everyone attending will receive a souvenir brochure and a free cupcake. Bring your own hard hat. Just in case anyone was in doubt - this was an April Fool. I hope no-one turned up at Bond Street expecting a cupcake.

Just drove past a Elizabeth line carriage on the back of a trailer leaving clockwise M25 at J19, joining the A41 at Watford. Where do they normally deliver single carriages?

It's going to feel really weird but great when custom house station opens later on in the year. To think it will nearly 16 years since I last stood on the other platforms waiting for those 313s (silverlink days)

To think it will nearly 16 years since I last stood on the other platforms waiting for those 313s (silverlink days) I honestly can't wait - amazing to think I can get to somewhere like Oxford Street in 17 minutes! Its been a long wait but at the same time feels like yesterday when they first closed Victoria Dock Road in 2011 to start work on the tunnel portal.

Noticed today the TfL Service Status screens on the cl345s now display "Elizabeth Line- Good Service" rather than TfL Rail.

Couldn't of been today you saw this ππ, at about 06:30 this morning Goodmayes had stopped letting passengers in some sort of issue lots of crowding and signs telling people to use alternative routes .

Any news when this is pencilled in to open? They have done the volunteer exercises, shadow running for 2 weeks, think they need a nod fro the Railway Inspectorate, donβt know how long this will take? What needs to be done to get this thing into revenue service?
It is so frustrating as it is so tantalising close to opening!

First half of this year is still the official opening period though 14th May is an unofficial one I've seen
