347, 646 and 648 - again that low bridge at Cranham. 499 actually CAN run a DD - it was Arriva's 375 back in the day - blast me missing that! Someone wanted elaboration on the 201 - I said it goes under a low bridge in Tulse Hill. The one notoriously hit by lorries. As for R routes, R4 goes under a low bridge and has narrow roads, so does R7; R1 narrow roads, same for R3, R5/10 - very narrow roads, R8 - very narrow country lanes, R6 - small roads. R2 and R11 could take one at a push. A R9 sees nearly everything at MB lol. Not sure I agree about the R1. Which roads are too narrow? Now the R7 routing has changed, could that take a DD?

Now the R7 routing has changed, could that take a DD? We go under the low bridge on Tudor Way on the R7s. I’m not sure I’d fancy taking a decker around Chelsfield either and it’s sometimes a squeeze getting our little buses around the Aquila Estate let alone anything longer! Think we will stick with our little buses 😊

I was under the impression the D3 could take deckers, various deckers have appeared on the route in recent months.

Yep, the low bridge on Vallance Road rules out DDs over the full route. The tube strike buses also missed out Wapping, even though I can't see any physical restriction there (not sure if some of the DDs did serve Wapping after all - the one I used didn't).

It’s resistance from local residents in Wapping. The point on low bridge is valid though - the rail replacement dds only operate Whitechapel - leamouth

I did wonder what stops larger vehicles operating on the R5/R10 - I came to the conclusion it was just oncoming traffic.

I did wonder what stops larger vehicles operating on the R5/R10 - I came to the conclusion it was just oncoming traffic. The parking was such yesterday that we were forced to miss out the Aquila for a short period yesterday and even when service was restored it was incredibly tight getting around Larger vehicles have operated the R5/R10 because my dad did a rounder on the R5 with a Leyland National. That was many moons ago now though and there’s simply too much traffic and too few passing places to use anything bigger than a mini E200. Passenger levels are also way down on what they once were. One old chap used to tell me that he can remember drivers not allowing people to board at Orpington Station if they were only going as far as Green Street Green and buses still left Orpington fully loaded! Nowadays, even those mini E200s are too much for the relatively low passenger numbers!

Since the 108 was diverted to Stratford City, it now goes under a low bridge, so even if it’s diverted via the new Silvertown Crossing when it happens, it still can’t take double decks.

A possibility to prevent the 108 from going under the low bridge could be to divert via the N205's routeing which I believe is via Warton Road - as you can guess my knowledge of side roads in Bow isn't great
