Any idea how many consecutively numbered routes one can travel on? The obvious answer is 11 in Orpington, but there must be a more 'fun' answer to be had...may be 'playing' with routes serving Central London Not relevant to this response but I was shocked to see your 'user name' as 30 years ago I used to manifest cargo on Iran Air Boeing 747s...

Ignoring 'N' prefixes it would probably be: 22 to Hyde Park Corner, 23 to Trafalgar Square, 24 to Tottenham Court Road, walk to St Paul's (1.3mi), 25 to Bank, 26 to Victoria, walk to Paddington (2.0mi), 27 to Notting Hill Gate, N28 to Camden Town, 29 to Warren Street, 30 to British Library, walk to 31 terminus (1.0mi), 31 to Kilburn Park, 32 anywhere. So that's 11 including 4.3mi walking. If you ignore withdrawn routes instead you get: 6 to Paddington, 7 to Oxford Circus, walk to TCR (0.5mi), 8 to Holborn, walk to Aldwych (0.4mi), 9 to Hyde Park Corner, walk to Victoria (0.6mi), 11 to Westminster Bridge, 12 to Oxford Circus, walk to Portman Square (0.6mi), 13 to Hyde Park Corner, 14 to Piccadilly Circus, walk to Trafalgar Square, 15 anywhere. That's 9 excluding route 10, but with only 2.1mi walking. And if you're looking theoretically at the longest unbroken sequence, it would be 85-167 so 83 routes.

Sticking with numeric routes...and this is tricky... I haven't checked but as 173/174/175 all serve the same stop in Dagenham Heathway should be possible With some doubling back in Chislehurst 160/161/162 should work or... 343 Aldgate Station -> Elephant & Castle / Newington Causeway 344 Elephant & Castle / Newington Causeway -> Battersea High Street 345 Battersea High Street -> Clapham Common Station [Involves a 20 metre walk between bus stops at E&C]

H12 and H13 - both H-prefixed routes that don't directly serve Harrow Town Centre (or Hounslow in the case of routes like H91 etc.)

W13, W14, W15 and W16 all pass through/terminate at Leytonstone Station, but on 2 different sides of the station.

What is interesting is how to travel from South Woodford to Wanstead, routes W13 & W14 go in opposite directions so from stops on opposite sides of the road.

Just reminded me of EL1 EL2 and EL3 which run together through Barking and years ago there was a time where you could get an 87 287 and 387 in Barking but alas there was never a 187 And last year you could've done 496 497 498 and 499 around Gallows Corner
