I would expect Stagecoach to keep Dartmouth base. Its the Plymouth end that I am not so sure about. It will be interesting to see what happens in the city during 2021 re this.

But have you not just stated that Stagecoach have been refused planning application for this site. They will either need to appeal the decision, if they have grounds, find an alternative operating base, or close it down? Or am I missing something here?

I imagine that Stagecoach have already lodged an appeal against the refusal of retrospective planning permission for the Dartmouth base. Its future depends on whether the appeal upholds the decision or overturns it. I imagine that Stagecoach is in with a good chance as the land is bordered by a new housing development (currently under construction) and the base provides local employment.

Oh sorry I thought this was in addition to Dartmouth depot. Thought it was strange as not far from Dartmouth..lol. I think local council digging their heels in as quote 'Stagecoach have had years to find themselves a base since taking over from First and have chosen not to bother. Once councillor is reported as saying Stagecoach could pull out of area if not approved.

Not unexpectedly, all the extra buses to maintain capacity for schools and colleges have been stood down for now. Any students needing to travel will be accommodated on normal service buses.
At present, Stagecoach and Plymouth CityBus are operating full services despite the lockdown (although Plymouth CityBus has been cancelling journeys recently due to staff shortages) and all independents seem to be doing so too.

Coronavirus update, 8th January:
- Plymouth CityBus has announced that normal services will continue for the time being, although there have been cancellations recently due to staff shortages. Presumably school routes are suspended although this is not mentioned on the website.
- Stagecoach South West is operating normal services on most routes. From Monday 11th January, in most cases where there are schoolday and non-schoolday journeys the latter will operate. However routes 1, 4, 155 and 357 will have minor changes to meet the requirements of those students who still need to attend school or college and routes 815, 919 and 921 will operate. The Falcon coach will go onto a reduced timetable from Sunday 10th January, with seven daily journeys in each direction.
- Travel Devon advises that all the school and college extras that Devon County Council has been funding are now suspended, any students needing to travel should be accommodated on ordinary bus services. Students and parents are invited to contact the Council if capacity issues arise and as seen above Stagecoach has already made a few adjustments for next week.
A reminder that National Express services cease temporarily after Sunday 10th January and Megabus services are likely to follow suit.

Linden Holdings (Devon) Ltd took over the Devon County Council contracts of Carmel Coaches from 4th January after the latter's Operating Licence was revoked. The routes are school/college contracts and once-a-week market day shopping buses.

Plymouth CityBus will move to "School Vacation" timetables on Mondays to Fridays from Monday 18th January, this will also mean a revised timetable with slightly lower frequency on routes 34, 43 and 50/51. The only exception will be Coombe Dean School which will continue to have a limited service for students who still need to attend school.

I see First have registered their first service east of the Tamar operating out of Plymouth... Dartmoor Express due to start in February. Is this the start if things to come and the end of Stagecoach in Plymouth perhaps?

Stagecoach has announced temporary covid-19 reductions in Exeter from 24th January, and Torbay from 31st January. Interestingly, Stagecoach explains the changes by stating that it has received further guidance from the Department of Transport, asking them to reduce its services.
Exeter from Sunday 24th January:
1 - change to one afternoon journey to serve Uffculme School A - reduced to 20 minute frequency on Saturday daytimes. Uni - new temporary timetable with buses operating every 30 minutes on Monday to Friday between 07.00 and 18.30 only Red Park & Ride (Honiton Road) - temporarily suspended, passengers advised to use route 4 to travel between the Park & Ride site and the City Centre.
Torbay from Sunday 31st January:
12 - new timetable with frequency reduced to every 15 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes and every 30 minutes in the evening. 31 - new timetable with frequency reduced to every 30 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes. 35A/35C - new timetable with frequency on each route reduced to every 30 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes.

Linden Holdings (Devon) Ltd took over the Devon County Council contracts of Carmel Coaches from 4th January after the latter's Operating Licence was revoked. The routes are school/college contracts and once-a-week market day shopping buses. Linden Holdings actually trades as MD Coaches, and has set up a new MD Buses operation for its new bus routes. Not all the former Carmel Coaches routes have passed to MD Buses, a couple are now with Taw & Torridge. Carmel Coaches has an associated company in Nailsea, Carmel Bristol, but as its Transport Manager has her own separate sole-trader O-licence it is not affected by the closedown of the Devon company.

Plymouth CityBus are reducing the off-peak frequency on some routes from Monday 1st February. Routes 8/9, 21/21A, 23/24, 35/35A/35B and 44/44A are involved. Routes 34, 43 and 50/51 have been operating on reduced "school vacation" timetables since 18th January and these will continue. Transport for Cornwall routes will not be amended as these are at lower frequencies and many are of social need. Only some school journeys will not run as they are not required. www.plymouthbus.co.uk/news-service-updates/covid-19-service-update-31st-january-2021/

I have heard Stagecoach have got themselves a new depot around Newton Abbot possibly to replace one at Dartmouth? Not much good for Gold and 3 I would think, especially if all rumours are true and they leave Plymouth in few months. I notice at mo several of hop Torbay open toppers are parked up at Ride, Plymouth too
