This had been rumoured a few weeks back, then things went quiet. It gives Go South West a stronger foothold in the Exeter area. The article says that Dartline will operate as a standalone business, although it is possible the bus operations may come under the Go Devon Bus banner at some point.

Apparently some of PCC tender routes, 19,31,39,44a,54 will not operate after 31st December as they have been withdrawn. Other services namely 2a sherford extension, 13,14,17,18 27 and 52 will be retendered. Have heard rumours that 52 will move from Oakleys to Stagecoach but not anything official, not sure about other routes.? It is now confirmed by the Plymouth Herald news website that Plymouth City Council will no longer support five bus routes, as part of a package of measures to reduce a funding shortfall. Routes 19, 31, 39, 44A will be withdrawn, most likely from 31st December when a number of contracts are due to expire. In addition, the summer-only 54 to Bovisand Bay is unlikely to operate next year. These are the worst-performing routes financially and cost considerably more than the Council's benchmark of £2 per passenger journey. The 19 and 31 are currently operated by Stagecoach and the 39 and 44A by Plymouth CityBus. Routes 13, 14, 17, 18, 27, 52 and 200 will continue to operate, but may have revised routes and timetables, and different operators, after 31st December. The Sherford extension of route 2A and the 42/42A route around the Seaton neighbourhood, which are also supported by the Council, will also continue. The Council is consulting on a £1 charge for parking at its Park & Ride sites, which would be used to fund the supported bus services. www.plymouthherald.co.uk/news/plymouth-news/five-plymouths-worst-performing-bus-7808800CityBus has deregistered routes 17, 18 and 39 effective from 1st January. 17 and 18 pass to Stagecoach whilst 39 is withdrawn without replacement. Routes 13, 14 and 27 are retained and will continue to be operated by CityBus, the 14 will have revised peak-hour times to improve punctuality and the 27 will no longer operate on Saturdays. Route 44 will have a new timetable from 1st January, with additional journeys to cover 44A journeys that no longer operate. In addition, route 35 will have a minor change to one Monday-Friday morning peak journey, and staff bus routes 84 and 85 (which are advertised and available to the general public) will have their 00.15 departures from Milehouse Depot retimed to 00.25. Stagecoach retains route 200 (Coypool P&R) and gains routes 17 and 18 from CityBus and route 52 from Oakley's, meaning that Oakley's will no longer be involved in bus operations after the end of 2022 (they retain coaching and closed contract operations).

Following a recent appearance before the Traffic Commissioner after their recent poor performance, Stagecoach South West has been directed to offer free travel in the Exeter area over two weekends in December: Saturday 10th/Sunday 11th and Saturday 17th/Sunday 18th. The Exeter area was selected as its routes had the worst performance of all during 2022, and the City Council had been particularly vociferous about the state of the services. On these four days, travel on Stagecoach South West will be free in the Exeter Plus ticket area, which includes Teignmouth, Crediton, Okehampton, Bickleigh, Cullompton, Ottery St Mary and Exmouth. This covers all the Exeter City lettered routes and routes 4/4A, 5, 6A, 57, 98, 99E, 360 and Green Park & Ride in their entirety; and sections of routes 1, 2, 7, 9, X38, 39, 44/44A, 55/355, 58, 95 and 157/357. Torbay route 22 is also free between Teignmouth (Shaldon Bridge) and Dawlish Warren. www.stagecoachbus.com/promos-and-offers/south-west/free-travel-weekends

Stagecoach South West is to take on Devon County Council-supported route 301 (Barnstaple - Ilfracombe - Combe Martin) from Monday 12th December, after Filers Travel surrendered the contract. A revised timetable will be introduced with all journeys to and from Barnstaple terminating/starting at the Railway Station.
Pre-empting criticism about the poor level of service from Stagecoach during much of 2022, Devon County Council has stated that following the recent rationalisation of services, Barnstaple Depot now has a full compliment of drivers. It is also understood that Filers drivers have the opportunity to transfer to Stagecoach under TUPE regulations. The route will be promoted as a "Rail Link" and Great Western Railway will contribute a small amount towards publicity materials, including Rail Link vinyls for vehicles and a bespoke timetable leaflet for the route.
In Plymouth, Stagecoach has registered new routes 4/4A/4B/4C between Plymouth, Plymstock, Elburton and Hooe, to replace routes 17 and 18 which are currently operated by Plymouth CityBus under contract to Plymouth City Council. The new routes commence on 3rd January and will also be contracted, but will offer an enhanced level of service compared to the 17/18 that they replace. From the same date Stagecoach also takes over route 52 (Plympton-Derriford Hospital) from Oakley's, and starts a new contract on the Coypool Park & Ride service 200 with the timetable finally restored to pre-covid levels (up to every 20 minutes).

Some sections of route in and around Plymouth are not being served today (Sunday 11th December) due to icy conditions. A couple of round trips to Polperro were cancelled this afternoon and Go Devon Bus is not serving Lapford. Stagecoach services in North Devon have also been affected by icy conditions.

There is also rumour amongst local enthusiasts of a Stagecoach 2B service to Holly Park in Plymouth to replace withdrawn Citybus service 44a, not sure how true this is though?

Stagecoach has announced service changes from 1st January, although these will actually take place from Holiday Monday 2nd January or Tuesday 3rd January as Stagecoach South West will not be operating services (other than Falcon) on 1st January. Plymouth: New routes 4/4A/4B/4C will operate between Plymouth and Plymstock, replacing Plymouth CityBus routes 17/18 but with much-improved frequencies and hours/days of operation. The routes are operated under contract to Plymouth City Council. The Monday-Saturday daytime service will operate half-hourly, alternatively as route 4A to Hooe and route 4B to Elburton. The evening, Saturday and Sunday service will operate hourly as route 4 to and from Elburton Village, whilst early morning journeys will operate as route 4C. As these will be daily services, they will commence on Holiday Monday 2nd January when the Sunday timetable will be in operation. These routes serve the new housing development at Saltram Meadow, and are supported by Section 106 Developer Contributions. As construction work is ongoing, stopping arrangements are likely to change during 2023. Stagecoach will take over the contract for route 52 (Plympton-Derriford Hospital) from Oakley's Coaches, commencing on Tuesday 3rd January. The service will operate about every 75 minutes with a couple of additional peak-time journeys on Mondays to Friday daytimes only. The route and timetable is likely to change in early 2023 once access to Derriford Hospital is possible from Morlaix Drive. The route is operated under contract to Plymouth City Council. Coypool Park & Ride will be increased to run up to every 20 minutes Monday to Saturday, with the first bus from Coypool at 06.30 and the last bus back from City Centre at 19.10. The new timetable commences on Tuesday 3rd January and is operated under contract to Plymouth City Council. The DY1 contract service for Babcocks will be reduced to one journey each day on weekdays, leaving Chaddlewood at 06.25 and Camels Head Dockyard at 13.55 (Fridays) or 16.10 (Mondays to Thursdays). The new timetable commences ion Tuesday 3rd January. There is also a minor change to 87 to improve an evening train connection at Bere Alston, and minor changes to Gold times on Mondays to Fridays to improve punctuality (some journeys will depart earlier). In the Exeter area, Route 6A has an additional College Day departure from Okehampton at 07.31 (this duplicates the 07.30 journey and has been operating unadvertised for a few weeks). From Monday 9th January the 08.33 route 95 journey from Countess Wear to Sandy Bay will no longer operate. In the Barnstaple area, route 155 has minor changes at peak times to improve punctuality and better accommodate school and college movements; and route 346 will gain an extra 18.10 Tiverton-Witheridge journey on College days. www.stagecoachbus.com/promos-and-offers/south-west/south-west-timetables

Berry's Superfast coach service SF1 will no longer serve Tiverton after 11th January, the service will start and terminate in Wellington. This is because the stop is poorly used. National Express also provides services between Tiverton and London. www.berryscoaches.co.uk/news/london-superfast-tiverton/
