The Government recently announced that it is extending Bus Recovery Grant, which had been due to end in October, to March 2023 with another £130 million being made available. This makes it possible that some of these changes may not go ahead. www.oxfordbus.co.uk/september-2022-changeswww.oxfordbus.co.uk/brookes-park-and-ride-sept2022www.oxfordbus.co.uk/school-bus-changes-september-2022

The road under the railway bridge at Oxford Station (Botley Road/A420) will close in January for up to a year, as part of the rebuilding and remodelling of Oxford Station. Routes which pass under the bridge will either be diverted, or will terminate either side of the bridge with passengers required to walk between buses.
These works will exacerbate the delays which are already affecting buses in Oxford and Abingdon, with some peak time buses running up to an hour late. This is caused by the sheer amount of traffic, and sets of roadworks which seem to have multiplied in recent weeks.
Full details of service alterations will be announced in due course.

The second vehicle for route 46 (Great Milton) has entered service. ADL Enviro200 MMC 516 (YX72 OFP) is in full route 46 livery and joins similar 515 (YX22 OJZ). It replaces 599 which was on loan from Dealer Stock.
Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, which is based in Great Milton, supports the service as it makes it easier to recruit staff from the Oxford area. It also gives the villagers an enhanced seven-days-a-week service into Oxford.

This is caused by the sheer amount of traffic, and sets of roadworks which seem to have multiplied in recent weeks. Full details of service alterations will be announced in due course. The Botley Road closure did not in fact take place on 9th January as Network Rail were not in a position to commence their works. However a number of timetable changes did occur from Sunday 8th January, with many routes in East Oxford given more running time to counter the effects of traffic congestion. Some services run slightly less frequently as a result. Routes 3, 3A, 5, 5A, 8, 11, 15, 400, X3 and X32 have timetable changes only. Routes 13 (Northway) and 9 (Risinghurst) were withdrawn from this date, but Oxfordshire County Council has contracted Stagecoach to amend route 14 to serve these areas - buses run half-hourly from Oxford Station to JR Hospital via Northway, continuing hourly (except evenings) to Risinghurst. The remaining Oxford City Centre-Abingdon section of route 13 has reverted to the route number 35 which it carried until the September 2022 changes! Routes X39 and X40 are once more operated by Thames Travel and have a revised timetable. Route ST2 has a revised route in Oxford and a new timetable. www.oxfordbus.co.uk/service-changes-8th-jan

The maths in that does not make good reading. 104 vehicles saves 6000 tonnes of CO², roughly 60 tonnes per bus. It then say that this is equivalent to 3900 cars off the road, meaning car emit about 1.5 tonnes of CO². This would mean that unless a bus has at least 40 passengers onboard, they are in fact bad for the environment! And even then only if they would be single occupancy cars ... sharers do not count. *EDIT* The simplified maths works out at 40, but more accurately it would be 39 ... if that makes a great deal of difference

Botley Road will be closed at Oxford Station from Tuesday 11th April to allow Network Rail to replace the railway overbridge. This is part of the ongoing rebuilding of Oxford Station. The road closure will be in place until the end of October. - Oxford Bus route 4A, Thames Travel routes 33, 63 and Stagecoach routes S2, S6 and S9 will terminate/start at the Osney Island stops west of the Station. There will be a signposted walking route between the Osney Island stops and Oxford Station bus stops and passengers will be able to continue their journeys to and from Oxford City Centre on other services. - Stagecoach route S1 will be rerouted after Eynsham to operate to and from Oxford (City Centre and Rail Station) via the A40 and Woodstock Road. A temporary route E1 will operate between Eynsham and Botley Road, Osney Island to cover the section that would otherwise be unserved. - Route 400/U1 will operate in two sections either side of the closure. Buses to and from the eastern section will start from Oxford Station stop R1 and will not pick up in Frideswide Square. www.oxfordbus.co.uk/botley-road-closurewww.stagecoachbus.com/promos-and-offers/oxfordshire/botley-road-closureAll buses in Oxford will operate to Sunday timetables on Good Friday 7th April and Holiday Monday 10th April.

Oxford Airline will have a revised and enhanced timetable from Sunday 28th May, with departures from Oxford and Heathrow Airport up to every 20 minutes for a large part of the day. Twelve extra journeys will operate in each direction. Seven new Mercedes-Benz Tourismos have been acquired, which will replace five existing coaches (67-71 which are now more than seven years old) plus two for the increased service. As now, some journeys (usually once an hour) will be extended to Gatwick Airport. Towards Gatwick Airport these journeys will be revised to call at Central Bus Station first, and will then call at Compass Centre and Terminal 5 on the way to Gatwick Airport. www.theairlineoxford.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Airline-summer-2023-A4-timetable-V6-1.pdf
